IT is part of the future, either as a sixth man or as part of a trade to bring in a legit star. Danny didn't bring IT in just for one year and a playoff push then ship him out for a draft pick.

With new SC IT's contract of bellow 7 mil will be best bargain in the league. Don't trade him if you don't recieve Durant, Davis or DMC

I started thinking about this when I proposed we deal him for Indy's #11 pick to send to Sacramento in a Cousins thread.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Trading IT and his cheap contract for a draft pick would be stupid. The only way I would trade IT is if you packaged him with Sully for a guy like Ibaka.  Smart is not ready to play PG, so you would have to add another PG (Augustine?) in the deal.  Ibaka would solve some rim protection issues, but it would still be hard to replace IT 's getting to the line and creation.

Strangley, i still think Thad Young would be a good fit at SF... especially if we keep Crowder and let Turner play primarily PG. Saves a roster spot (pressey), and gives us insurance for injury as Turner can play 3 positions.

Flexibility is key... Jerebko can play PF/C.... Turner PG/SG/SF.... Smart PG/SG.... Crowder SF/PF....KO PF/backup C...

I think that is DA/Brad are thinking to get the most out the roster.

That Ibaka trade doesn't make any sense for OKC.

The question of this thread is NOT "should we trade IT".

It's "What is his value"?

Clearly, we shouldn't trade IT, and most likely is not going to happen.

His value though, I believe is rather high, and wouldnt be worth it to Danny to trade him for a pick.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I agree that IT should remain a Celtic unless a team with an even better star wants him in return.

OK everyone. Lets put our smart hats on for a second. IT makes 6m a year, there is value just in that. Then you add his talent. With the bump in the cap teams will be looking for deals so they can get multiple FA's.

contract amount, number of years, and talent level are the prime things teams will be looking at.

if this is such a no brainer, then why are we so quick to trade him?

if the overwelming majority on here consider trading Thomas for a #10 or 11 pick a no brainer, wouldnt it be silly to think other teams would actually do such a deal?   especially teams that are worse than us.
I just stated his value. Thats what the thread is about.

Anyways some people believe we can trade Avery for a pick 12-15. Id rather trade Avery than IT

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Use IT and filler as a 3 way trade with Nuggets/Kings.

That's his value. A good point guard that can play back up minutes or even potentially start on the right system.

I really hope IT4 remains a Celtic, but if he's traded, it should only be part of a trade for an absolute stud.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I'd say 12-17 range draft pick. Kind of same as AB. IT is pretty decent and is playing starter minutes after all.
