He is a 25 year old sf. He is currently in the lead for defensive player of the year. He averages
PPG   APG   RPG   PER
11.8   3.7   8.2   16.45

He is about to hit UFA. His name is Draymond green. This guy looks like a smaller version of kg in the fact that he just has to win. He has incredible drive. Just see for yourself.

As an undersized power forward listed at 6-7, 230 pounds, Green doesn't look like the traditional Defensive Player of the Year. Perhaps he's the new archetype for the modern game. Green is athletic enough to capably defend guards after one of the Warriors' frequent switches, but also powerful enough to defend the post. Bigger opponents think they have an edge on him, but they average just .75 points per post-up according to Synergy Sports, 14th best in the league (minimum 100 post-ups). Green's even an effective rim protector, supplying blocks and steals (he's one of seven players in the league with a steal rate better than 2.0 percent and a block rate better than 3.0 percent, with a minimum of 1,000 minutes played). And he's been durable, starting 75 games and logging 30-plus minutes a night. As a result, Green leads the NBA in defensive wins above replacement, derived from RPM, and his edge over Leonard is larger than the gap between Leonard and the player in 11th place:

Defensive WARP Leaders
PLAYER   TEAM   DRPM   DWARP
Draymond Green   GSW   4.9   1.7
Kawhi Leonard   SAS   5.2   1.4
DeMarcus Cousins   SAC   4.6   1.4
Khris Middleton   MIL   4.0   1.4

I want him to be our new starting sf and I think we have the money to pay him so.. Go danny

He is going to want 8 to 10 million a season

would you be willing to pay that to bring him in?

Nobody knows how good he would be without the splash brothers

He will get almost double that lol. If that's all he wanted I'd sign him in a heartbeat- problem is he'll get $14 to $15 million at least.

He's okay as a jack of all trades player but I don't think he's worth what he'll command. Some think he'll get a max offer which he might.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'd go for someone like Dekker in the draft and pool trading assets to get an established center.

I think he looks a lot better playing next to Curry and Thompson, we won't have them here.

ok I made it 2 mins and 39 secs. into it and all I saw was a guy benefiting from being wide open to knock down 3's because everyone else was defending Curry and Thompson. that's nice that he hits open 3's.

but I'll let another team make this mistake.

Dude look like Brandon Bass like crazy.  Everytime i watch him play (which isn't much), i think Brandon Bass lol.

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would

Yeah, probably more than that even. For 8 to 10 I would take him in a heartbeat. For what he'll command, I'll pass.

I love how Hawkeye sold the thread title. I was thinking it was going to be some obscure young euro, not some guy everyone has been talking about for months.

It's hard to not like Green.  However, I see him as a system player; he's a perfect fit on Golden State, but I don't think he would bring the same impact to most other teams.  I wouldn't pay him a near-max deal under any circumstances.

Green was the 5th pick in the second round of his draft.  I'm not saying this as an indictment of his value to his team, but simply to point out that tweeners with NBA skills regularly fall into the late first round/early second round.

I think paying Green more than 10 million a season when we're loaded with picks in both rounds of the draft for the next few years would be a big mistake.  College basketball is full of guys who will be tweeners at the NBA level and won't be lottery picks but have NBA skills.

I love glue guys, and defensive guys, and guys who can play multiple positions, but I don't think you EVER want to give anything approaching a max deal to any guy who doesn't play both offense and defense at a high level.
