How Could the Refs not call a flagrant foul on Rivers?

The other night Rivers shoved Smart into a pick and only got called for an offensive foul.  Can't understand how the refs, after repeatedly watching the play, chose not to call it a flagrant foul.  Smart got pulverized in the play. 

Do you think the refs were doing Doc or the kid a favor?  Or, were they that out of touch that they couldn't fathom that is was intentional and/or malicious?  Either way it made me wonder how these refs think.  Hopefully, the NBA saw this and explained to the refs that it was a poor decision.

i think refs make bad calls all the time
no favoring just made a bad judgement call at the time

You could be right.  Just seems a 10 year old would know that that foul qualified as a flagrant one.

Yes, Marcus needs to earn his way back in after making a fool of himself and embarrassing the refs!!!

You're most likely right, the refs are giving Marcus some grief. It will pass.

But when I think of Austin Rivers and how his daddy had to rescue his NBA career I cringe. When Austin was coming out of college he was way over valued. He was cocky, and talked the talk every chance he got, but as time has proven, he can't seam to walk the walk. Austin thinks Austin is way better than what he really is. If he didn't have his dad as his coach, he would be buried on some NBA teams bench or in the D-league.
Yeah, under normal circumstances he should have gotten a Flagrant.
