Well, of course he will.

How else is he going to get to the visitor's locker room in the Garden?

I don't know about him walking in the door, but if he does we shouldn't all be moping and mad about it.  We need elite level players / scoring / def.  Sometimes you don't get it all in one package.

Although I am not bursting for Joy if we got Love by himself, if DA was able to swing a really good def center to offset Love's def issues I would be extremely happy.  I think Love fits into the future of how BS and DA want the celtics to play.  He just isn't going to get a ring all by himself.  We need to raise the overall talent level on the team.

Correct. The Celtics need good players. Kevin Love is a good player. He's not more than that, but he is a good player. He's certainly an upgrade in that regard.

Watching fans trip over themselves to proclaim him the next great Celtic last summer was pretty magical, though.

Guys like Love don't come around very often and stretch power forwards thrive in Stevens' system- it would be very hard to guard both Love and Isaiah Thomas in the 4th.

And teams would score at will against them as well.  Love is a subpar defender and IT is a post up waiting to happen.

The question is, is Kevin Love the right type of good player to commit 30% of our cap to?

I'd rather have Khris Middleton. ;)

30% of next season's cap? For sure.

30% of the post-hike cap? Absolutely not.

I think we're in agreement here.

We are going to have plenty of cap room the next few years. If we sign Love , Sully won't be coming back . Most of the rest of the key guys are on rookie deals or on reasonable contracts for 2-3 more years

Smart      -  3.4 mil
Young      - 1.7 mil
KO          - 2.1 mil
Thomas  - 7 mil
AB           - 7.7 mil

Zeller,Bass and Crowder will only demand 8 mil or less if we end up resigning them .

You absolutely give Love a max contract if he wants to come here. You will still have enough money to offer 1 or 2 more max contracts when Wallace comes off the books after next year, or use Wallace as an expiring to help trade for another max next year. .

After that you add depth with all our draft picks ( some potential lottery ones) and vet min/mle free agents .

You really think he will choose over us LA?   I don't.  If you draft him a WCS is a must as he needs a rim protector.

Yes , LA will only have cap room to sign 1 max free agent this year ( like the c's ). They have Julius Randle coming off a broken leg and who plays the same position. They also have a likely top 5 pick this year .

The C's have two lock down defenders at the guard position which helps Love's defense . We also have a coach in place that love has mentioned he likes Brad Stevens as a coach, he is a perfect fit into Stevens' offense , gets to be a go to guy on a playoff team in the much easier Eastern Conference .

We could bring in a rim protector next to him ( WCS,Sanders for example ) plus we have a ton of picks to add other key pieces around him .

Even though LA has a lottery pick, I think the C's have much more ammo to get deals done , already have some pieces in place to help cover up for Love's weaknesses , and will have the same type of cap room as LA over the next few years to add to him.

I think we are in much better position to land love if he is choosing for BBall reasons .

Too bad the weather and home will be a factor in this one, not just Bball reasons.

how is LA more of a home than Minny was to him? He spent his college year there but grew up in Oregon and has lived in Northern cold weather cities most of his life besides 1 year of college at UCLA.

LA is certainly more home than Boston. And if he's picking his next location based on basketball reasons, he stays with Cleveland.

Don't think it's that simple, Lakers themselves have a lot of money to spend going forward.

I wonder if the rumored Love playing with a bad back is bothering him much more than he is letting on.

I wonder if the rumored Love playing with a bad back is bothering him much more than he is letting on.

I think he has back issues ...or at least more than is being publicly revealed

Also .....IMO ....I believe Love is the type of payer to want his own legacy .   I don't think he wants to be know as the second or third best player on a championship team.  Right now he is the third best player .  The one they really don't need  with Smith there .

I think Love feels a bit under appreciated and his skills lost on the LeDiva dream squad.

So......if your KLove.......your not old yet.....do you want to be Ray Allen and just be a small part of a championship team .....on the back of Irving and LeBrick ......or do you carve pick your own path and form a team based on your skill set not what LeBron wants.

That's why LeBron , Mello and Kobe can't be on the same team

I think KLove might want to be THE MAN .....if he chooses to leave .......I don't think he'll run out and get run over by another LeBron or Kobe bus.
