What's encouraging to me is the number of *unrestricted* names on here. Forget most of the restricted ones - no team is going to let a good player walk when they have all the control, a year before the salary cap rise. Not unless we pay them a sign&trade ransom.
Aldridge and Gasol I put in the "I wish" category, but we could be sneaky good picking up Lopez.
My dream scenario that sorta seems possible to me is Lopez (UFA, should be less than max but not by much); Draymond Green (max deal, Golden State can't afford it); Middleton (trade Olynyk and a pick, less than max). Say $35M between the three of them, so we would have to move Wallace somewhere to make the money work.
Something like this 9-man rotation has a lot of flexibility. Smart, Thomas, Middleton, Green, Sullinger, and Lopez are all getting ~30 minutes, while Bradley, Turner and Zeller can still get a healthy amount of playing time (16-18 minutes). Anything from Young or a current year draft pick is a bonus.
PG: Smart (32) / Thomas (16)
SG: Middleton (20) / Thomas (12) / Bradley (16)
SF: Green (18) / Middleton (12) / Turner (18)
PF: Sullinger (30) / Green (18)
C: Lopez (30) / Zeller (18)
That team has 5 plus defenders (Smart, Middleton, Green, Lopez, Bradley), two DPOY types (Smart, Green); a 6th man (Thomas), rim protection (Lopez), and a deep bench (Bradley, Turner, Zeller against scrubs). You can go small by sliding Green to PF and bringing in Thomas, without getting killed defensively (Smart / Thomas / Middleton / Green / Sullinger or Zeller). Green / Sullinger / Lopez gives you 3 forwards who can all pass the ball.
Well, I'd be entertained.
