The list of gettable unrestricted free agents isn't that great.  Monroe is probably on top of the list but do you want to give him a max deal?  Our old buddy Omer Asik at 12 mil or so seems like a better choice.

He was unreal last night. Couldn't believe the Sixers kept leaving post defenders on him with no weak side help.

I don't want Asik and certainly not at 12 mil.  I think Monroe at Max would only cost around 15 mil.  Asik doesn't do much offensively and I question his defensive prowess since NO with Davis and Asik is one of the worst defensive teams in the league.

I like packaging our pick and the Clips' pick to try and get Turner.  The big FAs are incredibly unrealistic or overpriced

The NOP thing is so strange to me - I was sure they were going to be an all-out force defensively this year, but they have been very blah. I  am sure it has more to do with their guard / wing rotation, but they should at least be above average with those two. Either he or Davis must be overrated, right?

Kevin Love.

Thomas and Love on the same team will be a lot of fun.

Cousins is going nowhere. Guys who put up 39 and 24 have essentially zero chance of being traded. none.

He doesn't sound happy there and we can throw a lot of draft picks and players at sacremento

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think the two most likely are Love and Monroe, and I don't think both is a viable option in any sense.

If Love, then Asik

If Monroe then build around him, look for as close to Serge Ibaka prototype as you can find.

Alexis Ajinca
cos he's a 7 footer with similar physicals to Gobert
a cheap free agent rim protector for limited rim protector minutes (under Steven's system - we don't give large minutes to our sole rim protector - Zeller)

So players that would work under Brad Stevens system =
2 way players

So chuck money at players who would excel under this system
1. Kawhi Leonard
2. Khris Middleton

I think Greg Monroe and Jimmy Butler will be the most likely to move on from their respective downwardly-spiraling teams. Guys like Gasol, Aldridge, and Kawhi don't seem likely to leave their teams. I think we could get Monroe in a sign-and-trade for Sullinger, Wallace, and maybe the 2015 Philly 2nd rounder. Or, maybe we sign Monroe outright and send something like that same package to Chicago for Butler. Then trade up and snag Willie Cauley-Stein. Then sign all of our guys except Shavlik (sorry, Shav):

PG- Smart, Thomas, Pressey
SG- Butler, Bradley, Young
SF- Turner, Crowder, Datome
PF- Monroe, Bass, Jerebko
C- Zeller, Olynyk, Cauley-Stein

Good news is, whatever Danny ends up doing will probably trump everything (realistic) suggested on this thread, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.

I think it's easier to ask who should they not pursue.  I know I have my list (in no order) that include the likes of Jordan, Cousins, Monroe, Noel, Leonard, etc.  they need to be in on all and see where the chips fall.  As for the draft, BPA in both spots and I'm hoping with the first its Ourbe or Johnson.  I think they need a SF.
