Ok, so I'm bored and got to thinking of exceltics. The game is to put them in order of likelihood they play for us again. Don't count guys we had but never really played for us. Let's make it a top 5. In no order here are some guys that could come back.

Pierce
Stiemsma
Big baby
Rondo
Tony Allen
Perk
Green
Green
Lee
Ray?
KG?

My top 5:
Pierce
Perk
Steimsma
Tony Allen
Rondo

I would guess that there is a very small chance that Pierce returns, and no chance that any of the others ever play for the Celtics again.  Has Danny ever brought back a player for a second stint, with the exception of Antoine Walker?

Edit: Shavlik Randolph, Delonte West

We have 9 players under contract for next season.
We also have 2 first round draft picks.
Jerebko, Bass, and Crowder are essentially free agents.
If we sign those three that leaves only one spot left.

I think PP has the best chance but I think they are all slim,

probably PP but as a ceremonial gesture and then announce his retirement as a celtic.  I don't think he'll see courttime with the C's again.  I don't see anyone that left coming back to play for the team.

Allen Ray has a better chance of coming back here than Ray Allen.

Edit: Shavlik Randolph, Delonte West

He brought back Dana Barros for one game in 2004!

He brought back Mikki Moore, Marquis Daniels, and Gary Payton too.  He brought back Ryan Gomes just last year  :P

Fingers crossed on a Will Solomon return.

But seriously, I expect Pierce to at least get the Dana Barros offer.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Perk or even Big Al come back for a final, end of the bench mentor/ceremonial role (more so if the team is performing badly and out of the playoff race).

With the NBA having moved away from a "playing for one team for your entire career" landscape, I expect the "ceremonial last seasons" to be a growing trend.  Scottie Pippen, Chris Webber, Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett, Ben Wallace, Vlade Divac, Chauncey Billups, Kevin Willis (almost), etc.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

With how much Danny likes trading any young guy who will stay in the NBA has a shot. I forgot about big al. I Could see Ainge trading for Al.

You better believe Pierce will suit up in green at least one more time before retiring.
