1) Out-Tanking the specialist Tankers is not realistic:

Too many teams following the same strategy wont work for everyone.
Some teams went to the extreme (Cough Phila cough) and we have had too many talents to be worst than those teams.
I read here and there we need franchise player talent to contend but drafting 11 or 15 wont change much as far as Franchise talents are concerned. About the same odds. However,

2) a Hawks-like Playoff Experience would be extremely valuable :

not only it instills that winning culture and boost young players development and experience but also give credibility to the organization and some good under the radar free agent / trade could put us on a Hawks like trajectory if Stevens continues his performances.
Plus Danny set us up to have so many picks and assets that we could always cash in anytime there is an opportunity... And like every year until now and like every year after THEY WILL BE OPPORTUNITIES to snatch a proven talent... Danny is putting us in a position to be opportunistic!! Then it's on the players to make shots and Basket ball Gods to be with us...

In Danny we SHOULD trust !!

we should semi-tank, we'd probably have a better chance in getting a #1 pick...the Cavs did it...3xs ;)

I think it's just a matter of time before Adam Silver steps in and makes changes to regulate dumping your whole team ....providing a bad product for your fans for years made up of d league players in order to get a lottery pick.

That's tragic that it has come to this ......one thing if a star is hurt ....team falls ....but to sell off the best part of the team is cheating the fans.

Consecutive trips to the top five lottery need to be limited. ..in some fashion .....to keep teams playing and so they ll value keeping what they have .

Teams that receive the lottery help , need to move on , play ball and try and win with their new player .

Setting your team up to loose the whole year on purpose is very unprofessional , unethical , unfair to players, coaches , fans .

I hope changes will be made .....and soon.

3.5 games away from 6th best odds at winning the lotto, but [dang] these fools play hard, just lose!  Honestly, Danny sabotaged his own tank by hiring the smartest young coach on the planet.

i understand, but disagree. being clobbered in the playoffs does not, in my mind, provide a much needed and valuable experience. at least, i dont believe such a drubbing to be as valuable as waiting one more year, having a better team, and then putting up a better fight in the playoffs.

losing, if as often stated here, is demoralizing, then inviting this team to get beaten like a rented mule in the playoffs would appear to be a very undesirable event.

i dont understand what is so valuable that it couldn't wait until next year's playoffs. its not as if the team will have "losing" irrevocably and permanently etched into their brains by missing the playoffs once more.

for me, i can see a difference on draft night between the #15 pick and the #9-10 pick. (where the celtics are now.) trader danny would have a cheaper and easier time moving up to the #6-8 spots from the current draft position than from #15. that means the odds of getting better talent increases, and that is valuable.

but who knows really? perhaps in the cosmic 3-5 year scheme of things either way is equally fine. which ever outcomes occurs, i cheer on the celtics. i enjoy in the wins because the celtics won. i rejoice in the loses since it helps the team's rebuild.

i cant lose!!!!!!  ;D

it's called instant gratification, and it's wrecked many other franchises who jumped the gun and tried to compete before they got that last young piece to their core.
sometimes it's good to wait an extra year, as you said.

We went 24-58 during Rondo's rookie year and then went 66-16 the next year and won a championship.  Good thing he got all that playoff experience that season or we would have never gotten a championship.  Getting incrementally better is the way to go  ::)

The fact is more than half our current roster won't be Celtics next year in any likelihood.

Good that we went 24-58 that year -- I mean, we could have ha Yi Jianlian to show for it.

The 5th pick was more valuable than the 12th pick or whatever we would have gotten if Paul hadn't "come down with such a bad injury."  Ha.  Anyways, our best bet at getting a good, ready to go to war player is trading for one, since every team will have cap space this year with the new deal.  We wouldn't have gotten a good pick without tanking, we wouldn't have gotten Allen without that pick, we wouldn't have gotten KG without Allen and we wouldn't have therefore won a championship without tanking.

"Clobbered in the playoff" is one way to look at it...
I see it differently as none of those teams in the East strikes fear to this hard fighting team....
Experience is valuable!
Now if you are telling me better get the top 3 pick than the 8th seeds in the playoffs than I would agree with you!!
If you say 10 vs 15th I would reply yes but it's so marginal and does not guarantee a sure franchise changing talent so why not risk a slightly lower odd of getting a very good player and add some playoff experience to BOOST out young players development...??
Assets does not only equal draft pick or position
Assets also is development on talented young players!!!!
As for every example of rondo experience in a 24 -58 season you take I can have a Derrick Rose example of a young player on a 7th seed team in 2009 that got a boost thanks to a great playoff experience and became an MVP in this league... So to each its reality and I'm Glad Danny and Brad are in control instead of you guys... smh.

The Hawks don't really strike the fear of God into me. I think we'd give them a hell of a series due to our defensive tenacity. No team wants to be playing against a backcourt defensive duo of Smart and Bradley in the playoffs. Of course they're favored to win and probably would, but I think of us as the 2013 Houston Rockets who gave OKC all they could handle in the first round.

And you know what Houston did that summer? Picked up a superstar in Howard! It's a win-win!  ;D

but they didnt, did they? and THAT is the key. ainge steered the celtics beautifully and i do believe he has a very good chance of doing it again. he has far more resources this time around to work through the process.

All this tells me is that you probably don't watch the hawks.

Players and coaches don't tank; GM's do.  And from what I can see, Ainge has done everything in his power to tank but it has not worked.  At this point, nothing more to do than just wait and see what happens.  The last thing we want to see is players and coaches losing on purpose.
