With Okafor, Towns, Turner and WCS likely going in the top 10, which one of (Lyles, Portis, Kaminsky) would you draft with our 2015 1st?  (10-15 range)

Trey Lyles - 6'10 , 250 pounds, 7'3.5 wingspan
Comparison:  Brad Miller

Bobby Portis - 6'11, 245 pounds, 7'1.5 wingspan
Comparison:  Chris Bosh version of today.  Quick, agile but not really above the rim. Nice J

Frank Kaminsky - 7'0, 245 pounds, 7'1-7'2 wingspan
Comparison: Mehmet Okur

For a roleplaying session, I once made a character named Portis Portishead, the Head of the Portishead Family....

... that is all I've got ;D

What about Damian Jones from Vanderbilt?  He is 3rd in the SEC in blocks per game.

  • Celtic's only raise championship Banners
I think Myles Turner could slip to us......
We would have to be #10

I am truly horrified that we are playing mediocre BASKETBALL. tHIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE THE DRAFT THAT got us our Center.

A 6'10 center that can't crack 10 ppg or 7 rpg in nearly 30 minutes of action. Where do I sign?  :P

Not interested in any of them with the Cs 1st pick. Needs to be BPA and there will be better options then those guys. If forced to pick one Kaminsky is going to be the better pro. I would have Turner (worried about injures/locomotion), Poetlt (raw) and Harrell (lacks ideal size) rated ahead of these 3.

Kaminsky is exactly the "Brad Stevens kind of player" (good shooter and passer, high IQ, good for collective game, forward in center's body etc.). Some guys here don't accept that, though, and they only want athletic types.

I'm not saying we should draft him. But I can see Brad wanting him.

About the 10-15 bigs, there's Jakob Poeltl. I don't know if he's declaring this year or only in the next. DraftExpress included him this year.
It's nice seeing him get exposed as overrated after having argued with fellow fans for years that he was overrated.. but I don't hate him. I'm looking forward to seeing him [...] bounce around to a couple more teams... eventually come back to Boston[...] and helps us as a role player until he runs himself out of the league.

Yup. Jones, christmas and Dakari Johnson are the next batch of centers/pf (going in the 20s)

Drafting for need is never a good idea. Take the BPA with the first pick. If you want to take a flyer on someone, better to wait till the 20's to do so.

Kaminsky is not even close to Okur.  He has no strength at all and is going to get abused 2x as bad as KO.  Okur was a beast.

Bobby Portis was looking like a pick in the 20s that I really liked for our Clips pick, but he's shooting up the boards now.  It's too bad, since we already have 2 PFs that need minutes in Sully and KO.

I unfortunately don't know much about Trey Lyles.

I think I'd rather have Jakob Poetl more than any of them right now by a lot.

These bigs are considered imo "bpa" in the 10-15 range also.

I want guys who at least try to move on defense.   Basketball IQ can compensate some for lack of athletic ability.   I like Kamisky but I am not sure he can play NBA defense or help defense.   He has some skills and plays within himself and doesn't chuck shots he can't make like our biggest loser currently with a metatarsal fracture.  But I think he will lack the ability to stay in front of his man and I would point how he struggles mightily against UK last year despite having nice post moves.  I think WIS is one of the few teams that might have a small chance against UK.

College stats are really misleading.  I'd much rather get someone young, smart and competitive with an NBA body that doesn't get exposed on defense.  Everything else can be taught.
