As much as I have been underwhelmed by Smart this year I really like this answer.

I'd add a couple to the list but not many

Even if he is, why'd you wonna trade him?

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would
be a step down. I am pure 100 percent Celtic. I think if you slashed my wrists, my

The whole premise of this thread belongs under a bridge with the troll that suggested it.  Past the trade deadline too.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I think everyone should be tradeable. But I will hold on to Marcus unless he will be involve in a trade in which we'll land a top 10 player.

i do not think there is a need to trade anyone from smart bradley thomas young now.... the thomas trade gives time to smart and young to develop. it is their first year in the league.. they do not have to play a leading role now

I was actually thinking about this thread last night.  I went to the game and was buying my kids a souvenir inside the Celtics shop and was watching some of the other people in there.  Every single person who bought a shirt (including me) got a Marcus Smart shirt.  They made a fortune on those shirts in just the five minutes that I was in there.  No way this guy goes anywhere, he's a cash cow!  ;D

Mike
This will be my brother on Sunday luck guy got box tickets and can't wait to pick up his Marcus Smart gear. He been talking about it all week.

Mike

why?

Why is Smart looked at as this 'savior' of the franchise? Seriously, is it because he  was drafted number 6? Is it from his play in college? Is it from potential? Why is Smart getting anointed as the next great Celtic?

Well, the biggest thing, to me anyways, is his demeanor and attitude. Think Pierce, KG. This kid is a Celtic through and through. He has that grittiness and never say die attitude about him that Pierce and KG has/had with us. That's why I love this kid.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

He was probably more valuable before the season started, but he's still probably easily the most valuable player we have.

A Marcus Smart trade would have to be a dumb trade.

It either be dumb of the Celtics to trade him for anything less than a king's ransom, and it'd be dumb for anyone to offer a king's ransom for Marcus Smart.

He means more to the Celtics than he does to anyone else, he's in his first year of a team friendly contract, he is a freeking "Velociraptor on defense" (quote from Zach Lowe), he is invested in the vision of Brad Stevens, and his offensive game has made leaps and bounds halfway through his first season.

It would be dumb to trade Smart for anything less than established elite talent.
