If 3 PM rolls around and the Celtics haven't made a trade I'll be very disappointed. Right now we are in a place of mediocrity which is the worst place to be in for a rebuilding team. We aren't bad enough to get a high lottery pick and we aren't good enough to slip into the playoffs as an 8-seed.

Danny either needs to trade some of the vets (Thornton, Prince, and Bass) for second rounders to make us worse, or trade some of our assets for a piece that may help us make a playoff push.

Even a simple move like trading a couple second rounders for Mo Harkless would help. The Magic reportedly have gotten minimal interest from other teams in acquiring him so he could probably be had for cheap if the Magic really want to get rid of him. He's only 21 and his development has been stifled due to Aaron Gordon. Definitely worth a second rounder or two in my opinion.

If he hadn't been so busy before, I would understand.

But he has made his big deals already (no matter how much you liked or disliked them).

These are the small deals now.

I'm not saying he needs to do something extravagant. I would consider Mo Harkless for a second rounder a pretty small deal, Wouldn't you?

I am not particularly excited about anyone who can be had for a second rounder.

He's never done deals just to do them.  So I don't know why anyone would be upset if he held strong.

thought for sure they would do something but I bet they buyout Prince and just see what happens the rest of the way....If they make the playoffs great, if they don't great....

I don't know if the Magic will do that, we will never know if Danny never offers

I'd actually be fine if they did nothing.  If they could sneak out Bass or Thornton for any sort of asset (which I'm skeptical of), I'd be fine with that also.

This feels like a page out of the James Dolan philosophy of demanding results, even if they're bad.

There's really no signs that we WILL do anything, so I don't know why you'd be disappointed.

We've traded Rondo, we've traded Green, we've traded Nelson, we've traded Brandon wright.   Everything we've done this year was set up for us to maximize cap space this summer and acquire draft picks.  It's a team very much set up to tank again.   We might have won a few games in spite of this, but this isn't a team at all set up to win.

The only trades that make sense is moving Bass, Thornton or Prince (if anyone wants to give up a 2nd).    The idea that we are in "buyer mode" is silly.  Sure, if someone elite like Dragic can be had for pennies on the dollar, Ainge will kick the tires... but if you're expecting some splashy move to happen that improves the team immediately, you are very likely going to be bummed out when the deadline comes and goes without any action... and we buy out the vets soon after.

I'll only be disappointed if nothing happens and we buy out Prince.  He's been a good influence on this team, and I'd like to keep him.

Just a little annoying to see us linked to every major trade target the days leading up to the deadline to see us linked to nobody on the day of the deadline that's all
