  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Ric Bucher said that Larry Sanders probably won't play this season so he shouldn't be of much interest to Celticsblog anymore.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

Holy crap he's only getting 13 million of the 40 million left on his contract.

Is his agent under the impression that he'd be suspended for over 50% of the contract if he stayed in Milwaukee, that's crazy.

That's completely crazy!  I thought the CBA limited how much players can give up in a buyout.  Perhaps I'm remembering wrong, but that's shocking if true, on a number of levels.

He must hate Milwaukee.

EDIT: I'm definitely misremembering.

It doesn't. Fisher got "bought out" for no money when he wanted to move to LA.

That was some pricy "ganja" and "mary jane"!

40 million - 13 million = 27 million dollars worth of "the herb"!

Puff...up in smoke!

I'm sure there was some concession on Sanders' part for the negative attention and burden he's put on the Bucks this season.  It reminds me of Michael Beasley getting bought out by the Suns.

One has nothing to do with the other. He didn't have to agree to a buyout -- he could have been sitting on his butt and collecting his fully guaranteed contract checks.

The league needs to come around on this issue of marijuana use, just as the nation seems to be. It's pretty well documented that player's around the league drink A LOT of alcohol, which is a far worse drug.

FWIW it's $15M out of $33M remaining.

So he would have to earn $18M playing elsewhere to break even. He also avoids any possible lost money due to suspension. It's possible Milwaukee was starting to get Vin Baker ideas...

TP. Granted Sanders, just like Josh Gordon, were not suspended on weed alone. They are repeat offenders. Still the weed part should not be the issue, he just makes a lot of bad choices and doesn't learn.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

So it looks like they agreed that he's worth at least the MLE. We'll see.
