Danny for whatever reason was interested in Lawson. So he wants another pg. I dont know if the Celtics are taking this small ball business to the extreme.

But with the Suns really looking fwd to trying to extend Dragic  , i think there is a good chance Thomas will be traded in the next few days (with Lawson rumored to stay put now)

Trade idea

To Suns: 2015 clippers 1st,  2017 2nd,  Bass
To Celtics: Thomas

Celtics lineup

Zeller
Sully
Turner
AB
Smart

Bench
KO
Crowder
Prince/Young
Thornton
Thomas

Thomas would be a big boost off the bench. Any two of ab, smart, thomas could end the game also depending which players are hot

I'd rather not invest resources into improving our bench right now.  I don't know if Thomas is a viable long-term starter.

I dont think Danny wants a starter necessarily. He was going to pickup Thomas with drafting Smart and still having Rondo here in the offseason.  Ainge and CBS really seem like they like small lineups. Especially be strong at the guard position

Thomas is definitely  not a starter. Very good fit of the bench. Anyone that takes ball handling responsibilities away from Turner and AB is good in my book. Plus gives defenses fits and can score. 3 more years at a reasonable contract ... sign me up. Just not sure I am willing to give up a pick from this year.

To support ur idea here is what Sherrod Blakely says:
http://www.csnne.com/boston-celtics/celtics-ready-pounce-if-suns-deal-isaiah-thomas?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo

Pretty much agrees with the idea, except celtics be sending out thorton not bass to the suns

It would be funny if Dragic and IT were all just a bunch of rumored BS, only to find out Bledsoe is the guard that goes.  I know Ainge likes him and has been linked to Bledsoe before, so who knows.

the line up would be

Celtics lineup:

Zeller C
Sully PF
Turner SF
Smart SG
Thomas PG

Bench
KO
Crowder
Prince/Young
Thornton
Bradley
Thomas

And to be honest I would have Crowder start over Turner. This shows us what we really have in Crowder and lets him progress, this also allow Turner to run the point when the bench is in which create a match up problem. I think its a very smart idea. It brings a big name to the team that might bring other or at least another BIG name in free agency and if not we hope for WCS in the draft which is pretty probable.  Its a win win I'm all in for Isiah Thomas.

The Suns have been all over the board on which one of Thomas or Dragic they want to give up. I think when they saw it was mostly western conference teams that wanted Dragic, they changed their minds.

I say Thomas for Bradley or shove it. If they owe us a favor, how about sending Plumlee to sweeten the deal?

The only reason I'd do a Thomas for Bradley swap is so we can start Smart at SG instead of having to choose between him or Bradley if we did sign a PG like Lawson.

Thomas is a professional basketball player and a very good one at that skill wise, but due to his size, he won't ever be a great starting guard.  He has openly complained about coming off the bench though and so us trading for him to bench him behind Smart and AB probably wouldn't sit too well with him.  I totally get his mindset, because if I were that good at something, I would want to be fully recognized for it, but his size is just such a limitation.

Further, I don't think Bradley will get benched and I'd much rather have Smart get a lot of minutes and get some reps in.  Plus, Isaiah is 5'9.  I just don't see it working and I don't know why we would invest resources to add a player just because.

My prediction is not a single trade will be made by the Celts.

I don't follow half of the abbreviations that are used on the blog.

McDonough owes Ainge exactly nothing.

If Thomas is being traded he'll be traded to the team that gives the Suns the best return
