down the stretch macus took it to hoop and  then in and outed a three,His d was special and ball movement was quicker. Another plus was zeller taking outside shot and hitting a couple  and marcus bounce pass to him in right place.Marcus also had a three taken away for some phantom offensive foul. They sure stayed competitive.

I thought he played well too. It seems he is starting to "get it" and it was nice to see him in there running the team for a long stretch.

Agreed, nothing but upside with this guy. As good an athlete as he's turning out to be, there's a real leadership quality about him as well. I'm guessing he'll be named Captain in a couple years.

It is time to bench Crowder and put ET at SF, move Smart of PG and see what he can do.   He is giving you just as much as Crowder on the defensive end and he has a lot more upside.

One thing annoying me from the pro-Marcus Smart side (we're all on that side but you know what I mean) is that when he does well in a game ....just in one aspect of the game....he's some sort of prodigy or clearly on the right path and he's going to be a beast, but when he's in a game where he does poorly he's just a rookie. And then when he's in a game with two other rookies that totally show him up (Wiggings/Lavine)....well in that case we just don't talk about it.

you would think he went 9-14, 3-4 from three, 6-6 from the line, dished out 8 assists, and 5 rebounds, along with 4 asissts

but no he was 1-6 , 1-5 from three, and missed all the threes in 4th

Yeah agree, Crowder is not finding his offense at all.

I like Crowder, he works hard, but he would be better coming off the bench.

I really enjoy MSmart playing.  It is a joy to watch.  What a warrior he is.

Wiggins is just flat out better than Smart, he even defends as well, that's why he went number one. The game we recently had with the Timberwolves Wiggins didn't really play that well.

Lavine will be a good player, he may not be a PG, but he is so athletic, talented and young he should be a can't miss, unless he becomes his own worst enemy.

Smart has a different skill set than both, he is what "we" have. We don't have Wiggins or Lavine. Were hoping Smart can be a valuable asset to the Celtics. When we say he's progressing I don't think were saying he's going to be Labron, were just saying he has positive attributes.

Marcus has improved so much since summer league, it is actually pretty incredible.  Do you remember those first few summer league games?  He looked like he may have trouble making the D-League team.

Since then he improved more quickly than I have ever seen a rookie improve.  He had those two injuries that set him back some and I think now he has kind of plateaued, hit the rookie wall.  It is a long season for a rookie compared to 30 college games.

It is still to be seen whether or not he will develop more shooting touch.  Even if he doesn't, I think he will be a decent player but I think his shot will improve.  We may not see it this season but I think he will continue to make improvement leaps next season.

I think Smart will see extended starts and minutes after the break..

I see him finishing to a far 2nd in ROTY to Wiggins..

Marcus was who I wanted in the draft once we weren't getting Wiggins, Parker, or Embiid, but I think we are putting the cart a bit before the horse here. He has obviously shown his skills defensively, but he is a much worse scorer than I anticipated. Seeing him in all of those college highlights bullying his way into the lane and fighting for the basket, I was super excited. Now he seems to be just a three-point specialist and not a very good one.

I am confident he can improve his other offensive attributes, but just because somebody tries hard does not make them the next star of our team...at least not yet. And at #6 in this past draft, we really needed to draft a star.

Mannix said it best, there isn't a problem if Sully shoots threes as long as there are good looks. He's taking them with so much time on the shot clock, it really was evident last night. sully is also the teams best rebounder, so it basically leaves a undersized Bass to fight for rebounds because we don't have a sf that can rebound. If we had a legit center and a guy like stanely Johnson at sf it wouldn't be as bad, or even repairing Zeller back up with Sully.im not a fan of the rotations.

Agreed, but under the condition that Smart is the primary ball handler when they're out there. No more of this Turner as a PG experiment, unless it's the backup.

He drove to the basket twice last night, but I agree. I'm not sure if it's because of Brads system or  Smarts  unwillingness to drive or post. I also think it hurts him when he plays with Thorton or Bradley who hardly ever look to pass. He does call for the ball though and has shot the three at a decent rate which is a good sign.
