Yoki didn't.  How did you miss the thread called 'Can this kid be a plug in our defensive hole?'  Did you see his line from tonight's game?  He had 24 rebounds in 29 minutes!  Ugh.
I flipped the game over and they showed at one point during the game that he had 16 rebounds in 11 minutes. I had to pull up the box score to see if it was a typo.

Whiteside is a free agent at the end of this season.

Im afraid this is incorrect.

He is locked up for two years, on a very reasonable deal might I add. Well, that's according to Marc Stein at least. But who am I to doubt Marc Stein.

Look's like The Heat may have an inside track on him. Not sure how much more than other coaches and gms but Eric Spoelstra has been keeping tabs on Whiteside for years apparently.

Quote
"I met with Hassan. I asked if he knew who I started my first year coaching, and who I started the majority of the first year of the Big Three," Spoelstra said. "He had to look it up. I said, once you find that answer, you'll understand the type of player I like and we sign."

A player with energy and athleticism, like Joel Anthony.

This one, though, clearly has quite a bit more potential, with his taller frame and better hands.

Spoelstra was impressed with the workout and felt the hour-long interview was much improved from their many prior interactions over the years. There was much better eye contact and conversational flow, as Whiteside shared some of his worldly experience.
