Yoki didn't.  How did you miss the thread called 'Can this kid be a plug in our defensive hole?'  Did you see his line from tonight's game?  He had 24 rebounds in 29 minutes!  Ugh.

I think it is a situation where teams "black listed" him after things did not work out in Sacramento.  He developed a very poor reputation, if rumors are to be believed.  Sometimes that is all that it takes with a general manager to pass on a player.

He is the same size as Wilt.

Danny Ainge just doesn't like tall people.

Will you trade 2 first round picks for him, ala Mosgov?

I think there's a little bias from me if I say I will. I'm completely sold. I think there's enough sample size to suggest that, at worst, he'll be, well, Mosgov. At best, I think were looking at a better Roy Hibbert.

I'm not going to say never.  Some players change; look at Gerald Green.  If Whiteside has matured to the level of legitimate starting center and defensive anchor, I think he's worth 2 first rounders, depending on the protections on those picks.

I'm just not sure he's proven himself yet.

Defensively, perhaps, especially since Whiteside actually has lateral quickness, athleticism, and excellent speed, but not offensively (at least not yet).  Hibbert is an excellent passer and post player, while Whiteside has only shown flashes of such ability.  Do I think he will improve?  Yes, particularly due to the fact that he can already use both hands on the block.  Get him a great big man coach, and he could be a faster, more athletic Andrew Bynum, without the attitude problems or knee issues.  Thanks, Danny (sarcasm)!  Ugh.

"Excellent" might be a bit strong.  Hibbert isn't much of a scorer, down low or otherwise.

I disagree.

He moves a bit awkward, but he shown in D League games that he can work down low. During this past game, he showed flashes of a mid range game that could be developed. He looks like he can also finish through contact.

Really, worst case scenario here is he averages 30 minutes, will give you 10 points, 7-10 rebounds and a block. Worst case scenario.

Have you forgotten his performances in the playoffs against the Heat and Knicks?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that he can't score with his back to the basket, I'm just saying that he's not on Hibbert's level (for now, anyway).
