Eh? Sully and ko vertical are poor.  Upshaws vertical is good. Plus his 7-4 wingspan , his max vert is prob more than good

Are you watching the vids?  Because in the one posted, he does not jump that high.   His timing on the blocks is great and to a large extent that can't be taught.  I looked for his stats at a Nike Skill Academy and saw nothing on his vertical.   But I can tell from the video that it is more, size and timing than him jumping high.

Can he dunk, yes, does he get high on them, no.

Now he is strong kid who if he gets his hand at rim level he can pull it down.

Im arguing that he does not have poor vertical. Sully, KO, randolph, vucevic have poor verticals. Not upshaw. Does he jump like griffin or deandre jordan? No

For me i really lile this kids package/potential. We need a rim protector badly anyways. But someone who is not just a shotblocker and can battle nba calibre centers on a daily basis

Hi guys- I got around to youtubing a lot of Upshaw videos and the thing that jumped out at me the most was the type of position defense that he plays. He stands in the paint, doing nothing in particular, until someone drives the lane. He seems to have great timing as a blocker, it's true, but this is the same sort of center-fielding that made Fab Melo look so great.

The zone shot blocker seems to me kind of like the NBA version of the system quarterback. I'd definitely use a later pick on someone who has demonstrated this kind of shot blocking skill, but in the first round I'd be pretty scared to.
