Apparently, the Kings are shopping Stauskas in order to find some frontcourt help for Boogie either in the form of a rim protector or a stretch four.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/writer/ken-berger/24964114/seeking-frontcourt-help-kings-prepared-to-discuss-nik-stauskas-in-deal

While he hasn't looked great this year, I think Stauskas is an ideal sweet-shooting backcourt mate with Smart. And remember, Mcelmore looked horrible last year, too, and look where he's at now.

That being said, would you consider parting with Olynyk and a lesser asset for Stauskas?  KO might not be the "high-level" player they're looking for, but he's a good stretch four to help spread the floor around Boogie. The frontcourt defense might be a concern, but it's not that great right now as it is.

Would this be a feasible trade for both parties?

Mediocre as he is, KO is better than Stauskas.  I'll pass.

Perhaps now, but who has the higher ceiling? I'm not sure KO's is higher.

Yeah, I think Stauskas' ceiling is higher. I think he could be a JJ Redick type - but with better ball handling. Would complement Smart nicely in the backcourt.

I think KO is what he is.

Fluid Bigs who can shoot like Olynyk don't grow on tree's in this league.  No way do you give him up for Stauskas.  You can find Stauskas and then some with your mid-to-late first round picks coming up.  You can't always find 7 footers who can shoot like KO.

I'd do KO for Stauskas in a heartbeat.  Both have their plusses and minuses, but I still believe in Stauskas' talent, tough transition to the NBA notwithstanding.  Mind you, KO couldn't shoot a lick his first three months in the league either.

I like it. I want to trade Olynyk for whatever good prospect / asset Ainge can get for him. Stauskas seems like a good option. I would do that.

"Fluid" is definitely not the word I'd use to describe KO. "Awkward" and/or "slow" would work though. KO's a solid shooter, I'll give him that, but he'll be a poor man's Ryan Anderson if we're lucky.

Question is, do you think they would do it? I'm not sure what "high level" means that they're wanting the player to be. I figure if Stauskas is the bait it can't be much more if any than Olynyk.

Should note the article talks about the Kings looking for a "high-level" player.  Olynyk is a backup in a weak frontcourt on a losing team... I'd be shocked if the Kings were remotely interested in anything we have to offer.

Yeah... but it's nice to dream. I wonder what players they have their high on.

I'd look at it from the perspective of replacement costs.  How hard is it to find a quality player at Stauskss' spot vs. how hard is it to find a quality player at KO's spot.  Even if Stauskas is the better player, KO is probably more valuable.

But Bass and a 2nd?  No brainer.

The tougher question is do you do a Zeller for Stauskas and a 2nd deal?

Stauskas has been pretty awful this season, if they were selling him really low, I'd bite. However, they are likely still asking a decent amount for him and are just putting out feelers.
