Remains to be seen if deal is pushed through today or if it waits until league office opens Monday. But the three teams have agreed to terms

Rivers is shooting 39% from the field & 28% from three...So, his biggest perceived talent coming out of Duke is a big time weakness so far this season.
true, but last year he shot 36.4% from three, which is ok. who knows? maybe in another system his abilities may do better. maybe.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

As it stands: Grizzlies would get Jeff Green, Celts would get Tayshaun Prince and Austin Rivers and Pelicans would get Quincy Pondexter

No 1st??  I hope he just neglected to mention the 1st.

Looks like no 1st round pick in '19

Update: Beat me to it!

I'd rather take a shot on him than wait for a 2019 1st round pick...Let's see if he can get his shot going.

Also, more guard depth...Makes you wonder if Avery Bradley or Turner might actually be out of here by the deadline.

I can't imagine Danny went from wanting two firsts for Green to accepting none. If there was a choice between Rivers and the 2019 first, there is really no decision. Hopefully Stein is just neglecting to mention the first as the players involved have changed.

What has really changed here for Memphis anyway? They wanted to find a taker for Pondexter and NOP wanted to move a guard to free up a spot for Pondexter. The first has to still be involved.

If we weren't still getting a 1st, what is the point?

From what i have read the trade looks like so far

To Pelicans: Pondexter
To Grizzlies: Green, Russ Smith
To Celtics:  Prince, Rivers, 1st round pick (Grizzlies)

Then i predict

- Nelson bought out
- Thornton traded for a 2nd

Lineup after trade

C  - Zeller
PF - Sully
SF - Crowder
SG - AB
PG - Turner

Bench

C  - KO
PF - Bass (last one to go)
SF - Young/Prince/Wallace
SG - Smart
PG - Rivers/Pressey

I hope we aren't getting Rivers INSTEAD of the pick.   Probably not, but Steins' last couple tweets seem to leave out the part about the pick.

Exactly, I'm good with getting Rivers as long as we get the 1st as well.

It would mean that Ainge values Rivers more than a 2019 pick...Only explainable reason.

naw we are getting a 1st. We would get a 1st without the Pelicans. But now bc they are involved, we get Rivers instead?

Unless danny is big on rivers

I wouldn't take Rivers for free, let alone in lieu of a first rounder.  He's one of the worst players in the NBA.

Which would be nonsense.

Austin Rivers is in his third season, and is shooting 38.7% from the field and 28.0% from 3PT.  He shoots about 24% on 2PTs that are 10-feet and longer.  He has a career .462 TS%.  He's poor defensively, and is mediocre as a rebounder and passer.

He's absolute garbage.  The only good news is that New Orleans declined his option, so he's a free agent at the end of the year.

I'm sure this is just a sloppy report by Stein, because with no #1, this would be ridiculously poor value.
