Mack reunites with Brad Stevens.  This works of realgm.com.

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6552039

We then cut Nelson or trade him quickly or in advance of this or simply waive Pressey.

Thoughts??

This also saves us $2.77 million this year.

No. Who cares about money saved. We still have a boatload of cap space. Green is worth 4 Macks... We should be compensated with a pick from the Hawks.

Can't see ATL giving up Sefolosha for Green. He's been really good for them.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Atlanta has no need to go for improvement because they have become one of the leagues best teams mainly because they have guys that know how to play together with a coach that gets the best out of them. Just because you have the opportunity to make yourselves better on paper doesn't mean you should. Especially if the guy you're sacrificing is a well liked and respected teammate. Just ask the 2011 Celtics and the 2014 Pacers.

I'm all aboard the "Jeff Green would make Atlanta better" trade, but I don't see the Hawks trading for a guy who they can easily acquire this coming summer.

Man, the Hawks are like the Suns last year, but is this all that we can get for Green (says the guy who has routinely lobbied for us to just trade him for Tayshaun Prince, lol. ;D)?  I honestly don't care, but I'm just curious.

Btw, if we can cut Nelson, why can't we cut Wallace?

You must not watch the Hawks a lot.  As someone living in Atlanta, Sefolosha has been hot garbage this year.

As someone living in Atlanta, what are your thoughts on Mack and should WE consider this in Boston and would Atlanta be interested in Green NOW?

Thanks,

I don't know why the Celtics would want those guys, apart from the 3M bucks.  Neither guy really grades out as an asset.  Sefalosha is 30 years and probably has a net zero trade value at best considering his 4+M salary for 3 years.  I don't see him fitting in the Celtics asset collection.  Mack is a 3rd stringer who's shooting 37%.  I would just let Green opt out rather than tie up money with these 2.

How about Green for Adriean Payne instead?  Hawks can throw in whatever filler they want since they really don't have any bad contracts.

He's had an unquestionably bad offensive start thanks to his three-point shot playing hooky on him, but his defensive performance has been irreplaceable. Jeff Green is certainly the better player, but is the differential between the two worth risking what appears to be magical team chemistry?
