Nice... this will give Ainge's successor a good opportunity to get a closer look at the collegiate amateurs playing for the US Mens team as well as the foreign talent participating.  Maybe living in the building will give us an edge on scouting young talent in year 11 of the tank job.

Love the cynicism LarBrd33!!

I don't want to get the bid, I think it'll be a headache of epic proportions. Also don't see it doing much good for us taxpayers to host another sporting event and build a huge stadium in Boston.

Bummer. Olympics cause huge problems for cities all over the world and take 30 years or more to pay back.

I see no good for the Celtics either.

And thats IF Boston actually gets the olympic games. There are a number of other countries who have great bids as well.

Ya I'm all set with the Olympics. Waste of money and a major headache
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Does this mean the tax payers would have to build an Olympic stadium that wouldn't be used for anything at all? How do they feel about that? It better not be my state taxes paying that. If Boston wants it they gotta do it themselves. No more Big Digs on my dime thank you very much.

One of the reasons given was that the Games could be substantially privately-funded. The proposed budget was under $5 billion (cheap by Olympic standards). There are already facilities built (and some privately owned)- Fenway, Gillette, the Reggie Lewis Center, etc, not to mention numerous colleges. And I heard a few months ago that Kraft is trying to build a soccer stadium. There's a lot of your facilities without a tax dollar spent.

EDIT: In comparison, Russia spent $51 million in Sochi, but then again that's Russia.

But at the end of the day they still have to build an Olympic Stadium don't they? I mean if it's so cheap then Boston should fund the money themselves. It's just not that much.  I assume you meant 51 bill for Sochi, because 51 mill is a lot less than 5 bill.

Anytime Boston beats Los Angeles I can't help but jump up and down cheering.
