I don't see either of those trades happening  from the perspective of the other teams, but I would certainly try to get Vonleh here if we can, and I would think we can if we want to.

Hornets have won more without Stephenson.  He is clearly not a fit with that team for whatever reason.   CBS has always liked Cody Zeller (and we add another running big man) .  Vonleh might be the guy they will be the least willing to give up. But like you said we could get him if we really want to

I can't see the knicks letting both Stoudermire and Bargnani last year contracts going to waste.   They need to add depth badly.   Shumpert is injured again but when healthy is a good player.

The first trade is pretty scary from our perspective - we are essentially trading our top four players and a first round pick for an iffy return. Lance should come at a heavy discount, Vonleh's stock is fairly low, and we already have the Zeller I prefer.

I could see a package of Green and AB for Stephenson, Vonleh, Biyombo, and a pick, but the trade as currently constituted really depletes our team.

The 2nd trade seems fair, but both teams would need to have interest in those particular players - doesn't move the needle either way.

Stephenson is poison. He's a cancer. Don't add that to a young team and vulnerable locker room used to losing.

Agreed. He was much more the problem with the Pacers last year than Turner was, yet Turner got thrown under the bus instead.

you can't deny his talent though. When he is dialed in, he is a difficult player to defend

Right now he is not a match with Hornets. Especially the ball pounding Kemba Walker.  For the Celts he would become the main ball handler.

Worse case , we got enough picks to makeup for the Stephenson risk (if he fails)

Giving way to much to get Stephenson.  Hornets are a mess right now and its most likely because of stephenson.  It says something they put twenty million into him and wanted to give him up weeks into the season.  Also it says something that nobody in Indiana wants him back.  If we trade for Lance I would only want to do....
Lance & a 1st round pick for Jeff Green
Lance & Vonleh for Jeff Green

They will do green for stephenson but not the extras. Stephenson is on a friendly contract but green could be only a rental

Charlotte is getting the better player.  Charlotte is getting the better fit.  Charlotte receives JG bird rights.  Charlotte is getting Lances contracts off the books. At the very worst Charlotte gets to start over and attract another piece to play with Kemba and Al Jeff, Cha is still an attractive destination.  Boston is taking on his contract for another two years and with the potential of a significantly worse situation then that of Charlotte.  Do you really think Lance would behave better on a rebuilding team as opposed to an underperforming playoff team? What I said I believe still stands, a first round pick on top of it or Noah Vonleh.
For the whole rental thing 1. JG has two years on his contract with a player option so theres no guarantee hes a rental 2. No disrespect to JG but it's not like the market for him is going to be so overbearing that Charlotte has something to fear.
Vonleh is not and will never be a SF.

Vonleh at SF and keeping Bass is where this goes horribly wrong.

I do think Lance some how ends up a Celtic this year he is so Ricky Davis 2.0 just don't know the trade package. Instead of Green package or TPE I'd go with

Turner, Thornton and Sully for Lance and Vonleh. Don't believe Hornets will get a better offer and C's get a good prospect.

Smart/Nelson/Pressey
Lance/AB
Green/Wallace/Crowder
KO/Bass
Zeller/Wright
DL- Young, Vonleh

Vonleh played sf at hs. In college he played out of position(center) for the pathetic Indiana team.

He is a pf/sf in the mold of Jamal Mashburn.

Vonleh got bigger and lost some mobility. He is a PF.

Yep. I don't love this deal but if you delegated backup big (can play PF/C) duties to Vonleh, let Bass walk and took back our 1st being offered in your proposition, it's a pretty good idea.
