Honestly, what do we have to lose?

Okay, so our cap space gets shot

Does that really mean anything:

I remember reading Deron is friends with Dwight.
Maybe that leads Dwight to us in 2017.

Celts get: DWill/Lopez
Thunder get: J Green/Sully/Thornton
Nets get: Jeremy Lamb/Mitch McGary/G Wallace/Perk

DWill/Smart
Bradley
Turner/Crowder
Olynyk/Bass
Lopez/Zeller/Wright

That doesn't look bad to me.

Regardless of whether or not DWill and Lopez can help us long term or not, I would refuse to make any trade that may help the Nets in the next few years and in turn hurt the draft picks we own. No way.

I'd only want to make a trade to help the Nets (due to our picks) if it improved our team significantly. Those two guys won't...

How does trading their two best players help the Nets?

Those two have been awful for the past few years and are underachieving bench players right now for them. They play no defense and their offense has regressed, which is why they come off the bench and play limited minutes. With their contracts they are holding up the Nets cap space for the next few years, preventing them from signing players that can actually help them. Let them suffer in their misery from those contracts, they suck as constructed, don't give them a 'get out of jail free' card and kill the value of our picks.

Because ... they have failed to Brooklyn into anything more than a mediocre.

So why believe that Boston can build a title contender around them?

Well, in this scenario, Sully, Jeff, and Thornton (not to mention value on the Nets future picks, minutes for younger players, and flexibility)
I'm bitter.

The same Sully who scored a basket for the Wiz last night?

Ahh yes, let's just get rid of every (young) player that makes a mistake and instead take in toxic assets, that sounds like a great way to rebuild!

Smart had a bunch of turnovers early in that game, so why not trade him (and, heck, all our starters struggled early, so let's throw in Green, AB, and Zeller, too!) for Joe Johnson
I'm bitter.

Right, I am sorry. Let's just excuse every loss because the players are....young

Brilliant!!!!!

I'm gonna pass on this idea.
I'm not a big fan of Deron, I like Lopez when he's healthy, but every year he misses half the games.

You're right, excusing losses because players are young is a stupid way to do things (and, also, not something I suggested, if you read what I wrote...)

Saying that a player should be traded for nothing, or is worthless, because of a stupid play?  That's beyond stupid.  Young players make mistakes.  Heck, all players do (with Lopez and Deron fitting squarely into the "makes mistakes" category)
I'm bitter.

Agreed!

You're 1000 times correct.

Maybe Williams and Lopez aren't the guys to be targeting.

You gotta admit though, Sully's conditioning is an issue.

He was huffing and puffing at the end of the game last night.

Regardless of whether or not DWill and Lopez can help us long term or not, I would refuse to make any trade that may help the Nets in the next few years and in turn hurt the draft picks we own. No way.

How does trading their two best players help the Nets?

Gives them flexibility so in 2016 they could grab of decent talent and squeak into the playoffs in 2016 and kill our chances of getting a good pick. Hurts the 2017/18 picks for us to use or in trade.

Plus why get decent enough the next two years to just make the playoffs and not be able to contend. Better off getting some more lotto picks to turn around for some nice, younger talent.
