To clarify what I said about Zeller, I don't think he's a bad player.

Offensively, he's pretty good

I just feel like with Monroe, you're getting an upgrade offensively, that's all.

Not only would trading for Monroe be a bad idea (his bird rights wouldn't transfer), but the Pistons seem pretty committed to keeping him long term, getting rid of Smith (who he didn't like/get along with)
I'm bitter.

Sullinger, Zeller and the 2015 Clippers pick for
Greg Monroe and Caron Butler (contingent on Monroe signing a long-term deal with the Celts.)

then

Marcus Smart and Jeff Green
for
Reggie Jackson and Kendrick Perkins

Your new lineup

PG-Jackson
SG-Bradley
SF-Butler/Turner
PF-Monroe/Olynyk
C-Perk/Wright.

Pick-up a decent free agent next summer and this could be a playoff team.

Well Smart did go to OK state and Reggie Jackson to BC so the fits might actually be better then in most trades like this, The Thunder fans in particular would probably go nuts. Question is...

A. Would Perk even start over Wright in this scenario? Think I'd rather just cut the Perk and Jeff Green trade out of it. Monroe and Green both played at Georgetown so they might have similar tendencies in their game. Wright would benefit from playing with a passer like Monroe and Monroe would benefit from Wright's athleticism.

B. This would tie up alot of money, not saying I wouldn't pull the trigger, but is this the team we want to field for the next 5 years? Could this team + some good drafting/trading take us deep into the playoffs? Maybe.

If these trades aren't made (and I am sure they won't) then these two guys should be main targets next offseason.

Correct me if I am wrong but the Celts will have over 30 mil in cap space for next season.

Should be enough cash to land both guys and have some cash left over.

I think Jackson and Smart would be an awesome back court for the future.

Even with Monroe, adding another center would be great like Al Jefferson, Robin Lopez or a lesser target like Samuel Dalembert and Sully/Olynyk can back them up off the bench.

You can't make a contingency like that in the NBA.... There can be a wink, wink type thing but they could still say no...

Plus trading Smart and Green for Jackson ( Perkins is done) is WAY too much to give for him...
