does anyone know if any team in recent nba history has ever had as many future 1st round draft picks as celtics now have? it just seems like a huge amount of picks and im wondering if any team has ever had anything close to what danny now has.

2015: two first-round picks, three second-round picks.
2016: two first-round picks, four second-round picks.
2017: one first-round pick, one second-round pick.
2018: two first-round picks, one second-round pick.

does present day philly come close?

We have four first round picks in 2016.
And no, Danny has pretty much set himself up to trade for anyone who becomes available.

Hopefully Danny has a plan

TP for the link. Good to have a place that keeps track of all the picks. Crazy stuff indeed.

I know the 16 one is wrong because we have 4 number 1's (Boston, Dallas, Brooklyn, Cleveland)

Flexibility is the plan  ;D
Philly and NYK apart, we might be the only NBA fans that pays more attention to what the GM does than how the coach or the players performs.

Between cap space and picks, DA going to have a lot to work with to get either young prospects or a young established player in.

I don't see DA having many options right now to bring in a good established player, but I could see him using bundles of picks to get one good pick or a player that in their first or second year. Team like NY that may need to do some serious rebuilding might want multiple picks.

Now we just need some teams to play nice, which is what the Cleveland and Rondo trade was more about, to get teams to see DA playing nice and get on the good side with agents.  And we need a little luck for some of these picks to land right.

Seattle/Oklahoma City had 9 1st rounders in the span of 4 years very recently.

Durant and Green in 07
Westbrook and Ibaka in 08
Harden and Beaubois in 09 (they traded the Beaubois pick and a 2nd rounder for Mullens who was also a 1st rounder that year)
Bledsoe, Brackins, and Pondexter in 10 (they traded the Bledsoe pick during the draft for a future pick that would become Fab Melo - they traded Brackins and Pondexter a couple of weeks after the draft for Aldrich and Peterson - of course Aldrich was a lottery pick in that same draft so they traded two lower 1sts for a higher first and the salary dump of Peterson)
