Trying to explain strange player rotations. We have players that can play defense but can't play offense. We have players that can play offense but can't play defense. Sound reasonable?

That doesn't explain the Turner, Nelson, Smart switches we've seen at PG the last three games.  And it doesn't explain playing Bass 4 minutes and Wright 6 minutes this game.  I mean, what's the point?  And it also doesn't explain why Boston's best players consistently rack up fewer minutes that the best guys on the other team.

Mike

I feel you could make a case for there being no discernible better players. I mean that really more as a shot at the team collectively than any individual. Green's the only player in my eyes roundly appreciated as clearly the best at his spot, and he's at near 34 minutes a game.

I still think the idea that because we're not playing Zeller in crunch time when the opponent has 4 SGs and Plumlee on the floor that we're "tanking" a strange one.
Agree. Makes me wonder what the posts would have been had Zeller stayed in and missed a couple of shots.

Great game.  I stand by my belief the team is better without Rondo.  More assists/ball movement, more efficient, closer moral victories.

Nicely done, boys.

Fixed it. Too early to tank.

I don't like tanking. >:(
Fortunately for you we're not.

If we were tanking James Young would be on the court for 20+ minutes.

I'd like to see a poll on what Celtic Nation thinks?

Here's a smell test for you: Would _________ fit in on the 76ers this year?

I think James Young qualifies. He could be a good player, but he's not there yet. If you play him a lot, you're going to lose games -- his defense is about as present as Marcus Thornton's hair.

I don't like tanking. >:(

There's a somewhat decent chance that would be an upgrade over Turner.   :P
Eh Turner at least can dribble in more than one direction.

I'd like see Young get some run, but no way is he ready to play SF like we're asking of Turner.

Turner is going to be a really good player in about 6 years. I doubt he will be on the Celtics then. Kind of a Gerald Green story.

No. Evan Turner was drafted too high to be a Gerald Green story. He's yet another 2nd overall pick that's going to disappoint whatever team he's on, because he sucks.

oops. I might James Young.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Is Zeller injuried? Did not see much of him in the fourth quarter?
It's like he disappeared and then we lost

Conveniently.
Good point. 5 points for Hufflepuff for reasonable suspicion.

We were up by eleven, Stevens waited too long to put the starters back in and then he kept Zeller out. IMO that's why we lost.
Then everyone gets mad at Sully for being "lazy/fat" when he couldn't cover Bogdanovic or Karasev or whomever he'd have to guard if he'd put Zeller in with Sullinger.

We all know who and what is really to blame for this loss.....Bad babysitting!

5 points to Hufflepuff for an exceptionally obscure Simpsons reference

Just finished watching the game, first thought in my mind is I am so frustrated they gave the ball to Turner to run the point at the end and thus made Marcus the 2 guard. I don't think these two guys can coexist on the court.
I don't think this was coach making the call as Smart did not seem happy and was asking for the ball. I think Turner is giving Marcus the rookie treatment as if he is some type of proven vet who deserves to lead this team. Turner is not the answer at crunch time.

Smart needs to be the PG out there to learn be it in a win or a loss.

Haha, I know, but it's just too easy to hate on Turner sometimes.

1.  So, if there's no discernible difference, why not establish a settled rotation so guys can get comfortable with their roles, their minutes and what is expected of them?  It's like Stevens thinks he has some magic formula and when it doesn't work, he just tries randomly swapping ingredients.

2.  It's not just distributing minutes, it's when guys are playing.  There was a game where the Celtics were undergoing another 2nd half collapse after building a big lead and Stevens took Rondo out right in the frickin' middle of the other team's comeback.  It's like they'd cut it from 20 to 10 and THAT'S when Rondo went to the bench.

Wow---we're winning the entire game--and up like 11 points with 10.5 minutes to go---Zeller is taken out (Gorman says "we'll see him return")---and we lose a very close game--with Zeller NEVER getting back in the game---while Plumlee out hustles our entire team....Nice going Stevens.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Sully was great in the first half, he was moving and trying.   He tried carrying us in the fourth, was measured and found lacking.   Also, the Nets drove every time he was the help man below the rim in the fourth and most of the time it worked for them.   The last 4:50 erased a good shooting game for Sully he was 1-5 but the one he had was a trey.   We did much better with him moving inside and out and it helped his game in the first half.    Too bad, we could have had this one.
