Prob will trade him at the deadline for a 2nd rounder or something.  I doubt he's here next season.

We have two power forwards already.
No need to overpay for another.
We already overpaid for Bradley.

I don't have that kind of money.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

can I actually see him play 1st? when he's fully comfortable here?

I will say I don't like the idea of him being an undersized center. so if I had to make a choice now? i'd say no.

12M really ain't what it used to be.  Can I have Paul Millsap for $9M instead?

If it were possible to get Millsap for that cheap, sure.  He's going to get far better offers than that, though.

$8M for Wright may be the upper end if he performs well but it is really hard to make it this black and white right now because everyone needs to see him play on the Celtics.

Also, how do we even know he is going to want to sign with the Celtics after this year (although he probably would for $12M).  I think between the likelihood of a second trade and the lack of likelihood he will view the Celtics as the team for him after the season, the chance we get a chance to sign him is about 10%.

Trade him at the deadline.  We already have a good backup center who's cheaper and better in my opinion and two power forwards.  Wright might be able to get a late first...actually probably not, a 2nd shouldn't be too difficult to get.

If Stevens really was in Ainge's ear about Wright, I'm sure he'll be on board to sign him for 8 or so if that's his number.  You'll have 30 something million to work with, and getting an efficient big man in this league is hard to do.

I'd sign him all day.  He's good.  I'd also sign Asik and pair the two together with Asik starting, & Wright coming off the bench.

Please god no!  Either trade him again or let him expire, but why would we resign him?  He's already 27 and he can't do much except for block shots and dunk.  We might as well get Biyombo.

I know, but Millsap was a known quantity before he signed his last contract for 9M.

8M is a fair price for Wright.  I'd rather pay Wright and let Green walk, tbh.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I don't have that kind of money.

lol.

As far as the OP's question. Hell no.
He was filler for a first round pick and a trade exception.
He's not big/strong enough to guard NBA starting centers- it was the main gripe with him in Dallas but he's improved a heap.
I'd give him $5-6m as a back up center. I can't see him getting more than $7 or $8m. I mean Thiago Splitter got $9 million didn't he?

He's just not as special as some of the Rondo haters are puffing up to be as their savior lol.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Splitters contract was more in the "old" CBA.

Also, $12mill is probably too high for my question, but people get the point.

This guy needs to be flipped. #1 priority for Ainge out of the holidays.

Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

In my opinion, Wrights status isn't getting enough attention as he's set to be a free agent this summer and efficient athletic bigs are always in high demand. Not to mention this will be Wright's only real chance in his career to cash in.

If I'm Ainge, I'm aggressively shopping him in hopes of flipping him for something. I have no interest in seeing him walk this summer or overpaying him.
I don't see him as a candidate to be resigned so if Danny can unload him at the deadline for something (prospect or late first years down the line) I say go for it
