Al Jefferson has a player option to become a Free Agent in 2015.  Given how poorly Charlotte has been playing,  how disfunctional their team history has been, and how much love Al had here in Boston, is it not reasonable to think he could opt out, and sign here as a FA? We should have plenty of cap room to sign him to a max deal, and could sweeten with a player option to opt out after a year when the cap really jumps up (with the understanding we could extend him at that time).

That would make Sully expendable.  But am thinking we could package him with one or both of our first round picks to move up to get a stud center, small forward (I am assuming Jeff Green is gone) or upgrade at the two guard position (no offense, Avery, your destiny on a championship team is off the bench).

How cool would that be??

Thanks, but I'm not God. Just a humble Celtic fan.

Wow, I thought there would be more positive reaction to this idea.  Jefferson would be upgrade over Sully, would fit in well with Olynyk, and we could use Sullinger (who has decent trade value) as a chip to move up in the draft and get a stud.  What happened to all the love for Big Al??

C's are doing full rebuild no purpose for Al(too old). Need to develop a star as well as some dependable role players. Then add vets and maybe another star through a transaction to compliment those developed players.

Everyone is pushing too fast. Look towards 2016 as the year to make a playoff push adding FAs.

It's not a bad idea but I just don't know if I can deal with another big who plays lousy defense.

Al Jefferson does not fit on a rebuilding team.

Big Al is a guy you add when you already have a star or two on your team first. Not a guy you build around. A 2nd/3rd star. A complementary star.

Celtics need to lose games for awhile and build through the draft. Not expecting any big difference makers to join via free agency. More worried about signing guys to big long term contracts and getting stuck in the 40-45 or 45-50 win range than losing a lot of games for next few years.

I would add a 2nd/3rd star if the cost was ten spots in the draft.

I realize that most do NOT follow the Hornets like I do since I live about 45 minutes from Time Warner Arena (home of the Hornets), but Big Al is terrible.  Despite have arguably the best post moves of any center in the NBA, he ranks 57th out of 70 NBA centers in ESPN's Plus/Minus because his defense is SO VERY BAD!!!!

I think Rondo will be great as a Mav.  He'll much more motivated.

I think before we traded Rondo this may have been a decent idea. With the rebuild now official and probable losing on the horizon, it's hard to bring back a major piece from the pre-big 3 team which was so horrible.

And Big Al isn't really even that old, he just doesn't fit that well with our current front court. I'm thinking DeAndre Jordan, not big Al.

If CHA decides that they can't resign Big Al, I wouldn't mind Danny going after him via trade. Then target a center in FA and this has quickly retooled.

I would rather still have Rondo, but Smart, Turner, Green, Big Al, Gasol would be a pretty fun team.

Use Sully, Zeller, and Picks for Big Al and you still have a young versatile bench that can be tailored in the off season.

Smart/Jameer?
Turner/Bradley
Green/Bass
Big Al/Olynyk
Gasol/Wright

Not a bad squad...

Could you think of a bigger perennial loser?
