Woj is reporting potential Nets and Kings deal where the Kings get Williams.
Idea:
Lopez has one season left on his deal and Nets want to unload him.
We take Lopez off Brooklyn's hands and get Mclemore as compensation.
We can waive Lopez or keep him. He will get injured either way.
I think we can absorb Lopez with the trade exception.(edit, maybe not so it's gotta be expirings).
We are getting the two best pieces in this deal (that aren't picks)- and I'd probably give up a few more 2nd rounders for Mclemore and Mcollum.
Brooklyn gets: Bass, Thornton, Derrick Williams
Boston gets: Mclemore, Lopez, Ray Mcollum.
Kings get: Deron Williams, Bradley, $13 million trade exception, Clippers pick.
Might need fillers for salary but after trading Green, Bass and Thornton, and putting Lopez on injury list and waiving Nelson we'd roll out:
Smart/Nelson/Mcollum
Mclemore/Bradley/ Young (would try and move Bradley and go ultra young).
Turner/Wallace
Sully/Olynyk/Crowder
Zeller/wright
or if we didn't sit Lopez and wanted a playoff push with Green:
Smart
Bradley
Green
Sully
Lopez
With
Olynyk
Mclemore
Turner
Mcollum
Young
Zeller
Wright (if we don't flip him).
Essentially getting Mclemore and Mcollum for taking Lopez' large deal back for an extra season.
He'll come off books at the same time as Wallace.
We are likely going to have a few years of development so taking Lopez and sitting him is a non factor- he's a massive expiring contract next season either way.
Ultimate goal would be to get a top 3 pick and get Ikafur or Towns to put with Smart, Mclemore, sully and Olynyk.
Yay or nay?
