I wonder if we could take back Lopez and get Mclemore as the reward...

Brooklyn gets: Trade exception, Bass, Tristan Thompson

Sacramento gets: Deron Williams

Boston gets: Lopez, Mclemore

Without looking, I don't think that either Lopez or Williams fits within the trade exception.  To acquire a player using the TPE, his entire salary must fit within the exception.

I'd be shocked if the Nets are able to get good assets for Williams. He's frequently injured, no longer the player he was, and has a big contract. If they want out from that, they either need to take back mediocre talent, or give up good assets (they don't have many, minus Plumlee). Johnson and Lopez are similar - I have a hard time imagining the Nets getting anything that good for them, minus maybe cap relief (though even that would require them giving up an asset, I think).

So what do you guys think about this? Would a trade help our 2016 draft pick from them or hurt it? Collison and Thompson are still locked up for two more years after this, so they're only saving like 8 million the next two years by this deal, which I don't think helps them bring in a game changer.

Thanks for the clarification.
We'd have to send Bass, Thornton and Nelaon or Wright (if they can be traded now).
I think the deal is possible though.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

bet its for mclemore , then they trade Joe Johnson for more assets. They should still stink though .

Wonder where KG is going?

I kind of wish KG would take a buyout and join Rondo in Dallas. Not only would Rondo and KG be reunited, but how crazy would it be to see Dirk and KG on the same team?

KG is toast, don't you think?  Maybe has some defensive intensity left in the tank. Certainly leadership.  But how would Mavs trade matching salaries?

he would be a perfect brandan wright replacement , He can still hit a 15 ft j and play defense . He needs to get bought out though.
This is actually a really solid idea.  Dallas should definitely be in the mix when KG is bought out.   He's certainly an upgrade over Jermaine O'neal at this point.  KG hasn't been having a bad season.

KG could be like Walton off the bench, and, more importantly, finally get the last word with Duncan, and end his career with a defeat.  Do it, lol!

Why?

DWill is hot garbage at this point. Collison would be a clear upgrade and award them with financial flexibility.

I'm hoping it doesn't go through.

Kings will do this trade. They could not get Rondo trying to give up Thompson, Collison so now they move onto Dwilliams.

Thompson is a career backup PF (that doesn't do anything particular y well) , Collison is a guy they signed in the offseason (nothing to lose sleep over) and Derrick Williams has turned out to be a bust.

Dwilliams is a risk worthwhile taking.

For the Nets , getting rid of Dwilliams salary will be big, in itself.   The nets coach will have more control of these non stars and have them adapt to his style.  The main thing is getting rid of Dwilliams horrible contract .

Just because they're former Celtics, and, especially for KG, I was hoping that his final year would not be on a team that's going nowhere.  I knew that they would be an older club when him and Pierce were traded there, but I was hoping that they would have at least been a contender in the east until Garnett retired, but that's Billy King for you.  He shouldn't go out this way.
