The defense just got better everywhere!  Smart when healthy will provide much better D at the PG spot and this will also improve the defense at the shooting guard spot by moving Bradley over there!  The addition of Wright will most likely mean he takes minutes from Bass joining the 2nd unit!  The perimeter will be much better defended as a whole and should curb the guard penetration that has been plaguing this team!  The 2nd unit could actually be very very good if Stevens goes with an expected starting lineup right now of Turner, Bradley, Green, Sully and Zeller this will leave a 2nd unit of Smart, Thornton(when healthy), Crowder or Wallace, K.O. and Wright!

The offense should return to the ball movement that was on display in the preseason and in non Rondo lineups during the year so far!  I personally do not expect a downturn here at all, although not expecting an uptick just a much different look.  I fully expect K.O. to shine the most from this and become much more of a distributer!

This was intended in no way to be a Rondo hate post!!  Its just that in my mind for this team the Celtics just got better and im excited to see it all happen now!

It should be very interesting to watch the games coming up to see how dynamics might change.  I think we could see some positive changes like you said--more ball movement etc.

I think we're going to suck but I'm guessing that's the plan. I'm just not ready for 10 years of suckiness. Ugh.

If Smart absorbed all of Rondo's minute then our defense would improve, but he won't. So I wouldn't expect the D to change for the better.

Our rebounding is probably going to get worse and we'll be a lot more vulnerable to pressure on the ball to slow down our pace.

oracle i love your positive outlook!
but we could also see post rondo:
bradley doing even less than he has so far this year
turner turning the ball over at an amazing rate with extra minutes
pressey likewise
easy shots for sully, bass, ko and mainly zeller are gone

We might be slightly better.  I like pairing Bradley with either Turner or Smart.  Both those guys are bigger than Bradley and can make up for his lack of size.

Not expecting it, but it really wouldn't shock me to see Boston make the playoffs this year.

So basically, no difference whatsoever to the team prior to the trade.

We were on pace for somewhere around the 6th to 8th seed based on SRS. (point differential adjusted for schedule strength)

I think the Rondo trade was just the first step to make sure we don't make the playoffs with this team. Green/Bass on their way out by the deadline I'm sure, maybe more.

Making the Playoffs doesn't make sense when you trade away your star.

Nah, I don't agree. We got rid of Rondo (who was playing like crap) but we still have Evan Turner. We still suck.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Bass isn't the problem on defense, the two slow guys, Sully and KO are the problem.  Bass can jump and move, those can't well.

I think Pressey will be the starter. I just have a feeling. Also Smart may not be healthy enough.
Your gonna see the ball moving around in the half court, searching for the open man. I think Pressey has to really push the pace. That's the key for him being in the lineup.

(Don't worry we won't make the playoffs)
