Let's hope Ainge is thinking outside the box.

Hornets reportedly are looking to dump Stephenson for nothing.  Can we use the TPE to absorb?
Pistons reportedly want a 1st rounder for Monroe?  Can we send them the pick we just received?

Would getting Lance and Monroe ease your Rondo pain?

More like neither. I'm hoping the Rockets could be tricked to flip Ariza's contract + Pelican's first for Jeff Green or something.

Why neither?  Is it that farfetched?

You think Detroit will trade Brandan Wright for Monroe?

Haven't dived deep into the Monroe rumors, but sportingnews reported a couple days ago that the Pistons wanted a 1st for him.  It was also just reported that they tried to trade Monroe to the Hawks for Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver and were turned down by the Hawks.   I don't think Monroe's price-tag is high.  He's not in the long-term plans and he's an unrestricted free agent soon.

Meanwhile... there were rumors about Lance being extremely available, but that the "Hornets were unwilling to include a 1st in order to unload him".

I joked a couple days ago, "cool... get the HOrnets to give up a 1st along with Lance... then turn around and trade that 1st for Monroe."

But it seems to me... we have all the necessary pieces to bring them both here if Ainge is so inclined.  And I know he's had interest in both.

Monroe has made it clear he's NOT waiving his Bird rights. Stephenson is the proverbial "just decent" player on a long and generous contract that will clog your cap for years without getting you over the hump.

Although writing this I just realized that Stephenson's third year is not guaranteed, so perhaps the contract is not as bad as I thought.

Still, I expect Ainge to swing for the fences rather than make lateral moves with long(ish)-term implications.

Let's not panic. We're in great position. We have a phenomenal future in the draft, terrific cap flexibility and now have armed ourselves with a trade exception that should prove to be very valuable.

Monroe is not going to re-sign with us and Lance is a basket case right now.

Let's be patient, make the smart selections in the 2015 draft, try to be a young, exciting squad next year like Milwaukee has been this year, and then pounce in 2016 free agency.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

CHA wants to dump Lance for nothing and is getting no takers, but you think it's a good deal to pay $13.5MM for a for a year and a half of cancer.

I think Monroe is a very reasonable target now. We can give Detroit a legit front court player in return be it Wright, KO or Sully. But hopefully it is Wright who is much older than the other two guys.

If Stephenson can't help Charlotte who was a playoff team last year and they want to dump him to anyone who would take him then why in the world would we want him?

Why do people want to get better? Is the goal to get some okish players and be the atlanta hawks or is it to win a championship? Lets tank for a couple years, get our Durant, and be back in action in 2017-2018.

How certain are you that we can get our Durant?

You can also build a contender by acquiring talent via trade.

I think Stephenson is about the last player that we want to inject into this barely past college age group of young players we have right now.  Plus he had one good year last year, other than that, not so much.

The next step is to wait. There is zero point in making halfway steps forward now until we have at least one piece we know we can build around.
