I still Ainge is a good GM.   The market was not there.

For all the calls of firing he has reached the peak of his job something most all of the people calling for firing him will never do.

I can't be mad at Ainge. He's an exceptional GM.  Just have to accept the fact that nobody wanted rondo... Including the celtics.

I am not a Rondo fan, but better to keep Rondo for all life than getting Nelson...This concept of trade Rondo for Nelson is not only a professional ignorance but generally speaking an offence to people intelligence

Rondo wasn't traded for Nelson.  The trade was much bigger than that, and it also must be evaluated in terms of the greater context(s).

Market is not there? Then hold on to your star player and find other ways to keep him instead, instead of settling for a stupid return.

Im not calling for his head, but I changed my stance and I'm actually going to be happy if he does get canned just because of this

I just tried to explain the trade to my 7 year old.

"This is a big game for the Celtics because they just traded their best player"

"Seriously? For a better player, right?"

"No"

"Well why did they do that?"

The seven year old gets it. Danny got in a game of trade chicken and lost.

Jeff Green deal, Bradley deal, now giving Mavs a really nice christmas gift.  Why do you still have a job?  Just like Doc and coaching, Ainge is turning out to be an overrated GM.
Fire Ainge?

He'll be lucky if the owner doesn't send him a sword and instructions on how to commit Harre Karre.

No, you and the seven year old have an equivalent level of mental development.  DA is so far ahead of you it's not funny.

I love you forever, Danny... :D ;D

Or lose him for nothing.

Of course you're not calling for his head. You're not stupid. You realize he gave you Rondo, got a title, & has like 100 first round picks, youth, & cap space to do major damage in the league.

You don't fire that type of setup, you ask him if he'd like to sign on for 10 more years.

This thread is a train wreck. Ainge is rebuilding, and its a long, hard, process. You guys are whining because two superstars didn't fall into our laps via trade like they did in '07, and we didn't trade for Kevin Love this past offseason. Ainge is accumulating assets, and could cash them out in a year or two if a star becomes available.

With the deals done Ainge has three years IMO to put together a good young playoff team or move assets for better players.  Five years and a team like this he should be fired

Spot on correct - thank you.  Ownership didn't begin this massive rebuild and direct DA to accumulate all those picks just to cashier him for a decision they signed off on just so they can bring someone else in to make those picks.

No one I'd rather have as GM than Danny.   Shouldn't be fired, and of course he won't be.

I feel the same way

If he was to fired, some lucky team would pick him up immediately, and the fans of that team would be dancing in the streets
I trust Danny Ainge
