He did score 4 touchdowns in a game once.

It sucks that this is all we could get but it's the reality of the trade market.
The Rondo situation was too much of a gamble for Ainge in the offseason. He obviously wasn't willing to match any max deal offers and if we don't trade Rondo now, we'll play too well to be a top 3 pick contender in the draft with some absolute studs.
Time to build this thing from the ground up.
I thought we already this when we traded PP.  :-X

We got Jameer Nelson back to come off the bench for Smart.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I understand why we had to take this deal.

I hate that we ended up in this position in the first place.

Agreed. Would have loved to have moved Rondo a few years ago when his value was presumably higher.  But at this point he's been exposed.  He's a role player who doesn't elevate his team.  The Rondo myth was basically revealed when KG and Pierce led us to our last playoff appearance without him.

The timing of that injury really had a massive effect on our future that goes far beyond just denying KG and Pierce one last shot at the title.

Rondo came back from injury just in time to be an expiring contract and an unmotivated player on a bad team, completely tanking his trade value. If we sold him in 2013 when we sold Pierce and KG we would have gotten more than double this.

I agree, it never should have come to this, but that's Ainge for you.

As far as I'm concerned the only mistake Ainge made here was not trading Rondo for a better deal in the offseason in hopes of getting "fireworks." I think we could have gotten the Kings pick or the Lakers pick straight up for Rondo in the summer.

The circumstances are just very difficult.

Crowder is set to blow up, good rebounder, defender and shooter from the corner. No matter what the stats say for Crowder right now, he will do well if he gets PT.
