Come next July, the only players in this deal maybe the 1st and 2nd round picks..Wright is a FA and may sign elsewhere....and the 1st pick may be in high 20's and might not make the team and 2nd rounder probably be a international player who we will never see....this trade is really bad!!!
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

There is a good chance that Rondo wasn't going to be here next year either.  I'd rather have those two picks than nothing at all.

This is probably one of only a couple times where I really felt like DA got things completely wrong.  He has been a super GM in general, but this move just is basically running the white flag up the pole saying, I couldn't improve the roster without blowing it completely up.

I absolutely don't like having to take on Nelson.  He is so NOT a boston celtic.  This hot mess of garbage we got in return and have to deal with + basically extending the rebuild a few more years is just sickening.

Good for Rondo though, I am happy he landed in a good spot where at least he can be on a contending team, it is the only silver lining in the whole mess.

On its face? No.  I'm not sure how you could unless you were one of the people who hated Rondo.

Down the road?  Yet to be seen but I am not a happy camper at the moment.

I'm a little relieved to have the speculation over.  I feel like Rondo's been on an island for quite some time now.
Yup

I like this trade when evaluating it on its merits alone. I am not going to get caught up in the mass hysteria that is enveloping this board right now. I don't think that Danny is an absolute fool who does not do his due diligence. So I am choosing to give him the benefit of the doubt in that this was the best package available at this time.

I am in the camp that Rondo was not going to resign here at the end of this year. That ship sailed when the Kevin Love pursuit went for naught. I believe their plan was a quick rebuild by adding a superstar to play with Rondo and realistically, Love was their only hope. So once again, we can blame Lebron for that.  ::)

I actually have more of an issue with that plan of attack. I never thought that was realistic then and I am even more angry now because I would have preferred they go the nuclear route by trading Rondo when they traded KG and Pierce. That didn't happen, and here we are now. So given the choice of a mediocre playoff pursuit with Rondo while hoping that he doesn't leave for nothing and the current route of taking what they can get for him and bottoming out even further, I would make the same trade.
Looking at my gucci, and it's about that time...

I try to be objective, but yeah...  I have a hard time seeing this as a good or positive thing.  It's very poor value for the closest thing we had to a star.

It could work out okay, if Danny finds a hidden gem in the draft (instead of Fab Melo or J.R. Giddens), and we use the trade exception on something useful.  I'm pretty dang skeptical, though.

I could kinda understand the huge KG /Piece contracts and their ages.

This is so stupid it defies comprehension .

So maybe there is MORE to the  story.

Rondo look sick and ready to cry after the game .

So.....was Stevens behind the demise of Rondo.....well he had to agree ....or want it .......if Stevens wants Rondo ....why would DA let him go?

Danny panicked ......really bent the Celtic fans over on this one .

I would be really happy to see him run out of Town .

OK, I'll take the bait. I don't hate Rondo at all, and I like the trade. I like the trade because I think Rondo makes this team better but not good enough. I think the closest path to a championship involves bottoming out for this year and probably next year as well. I think their best chance is nailing those 2 lottery picks and hoping their abundance of cap space in the summer of 2016 can add to that core. It's going to require patience but I think that's their best shot. This trade makes that path a lot easier.

Well ...when the owners see the empty seat,  lousy TV ratings , poor NBA novelty sales , etc , etc ....

Just stupid .....I have totally lost faith in the screwball.

Danny will be on a fast train out of Boston.
