Some thoughts on this:
No Rondo trades should include any of our young guys, if we move Rondo we are in full rebuild mode, so sending out Sullinger doesn't make sense.
totally agree on this. hate the idea of trading Rondo but if we do, it only makes sense if we're keeping our good young players.
I still don't think the Knicks are a playoff team even with Rondo. So I would be happy to get the rights to swap the Clippers pick with our pick.
I disagree on this. add Rondo to that team in this weak Eastern conference and you'll see that team climb into the playoff picture. No desire to give up Rondo and a 1st to get back crappy players and move up only 5-6 spots (I expect Clips pick to end up around 22-23 at best and Knicks to get around 16-17 if they add Rondo with this much of the season left to play)
The best asset that we could probably get is the right to swap firsts with a potential lottery team like Houston (the have NOLA's likely lottery pick), New York, or Sacramento. If we can go into the offseason with two lottery picks it will be a big help to the rebuild.
Adding Rondo to NY puts them in the playoffs as I mentioned above. Adding Rondo to Sac would put them late lottery --> they really need Cousins on the court to do any serious climbing in the standings but in the West it'll be a tough climb. Getting the NO pick from Houston could very well be lottery but late lottery.
I just don't feel a late lottery pick is enough. Even with lowered expectations, I'd want a mid-lottery pick or at least a very good prospect to go with a late lottery pick. There's a reason good teams want Rondo -- because he's really good despite what the vocal handful of posters here say about him.
