I don't know if it's been mentioned yet but the possible trade could be Rondo and Green for Parsons.

Parsons+Wright for Rondo+Green could also work salary wise :)

Positives would be:

Will accelerate Smart's development
Parsons a perfect fit for Stevens' Motion Offense
A young legitimate rim protector that we sorely needed

Seems about right.  Rondo is expiring, is seemingly demanding max money (and isn't worth it), and is a complimentary player (a very good one, but a complimentary player all the same).  The time to have traded him was last year or over the summer for this exact reason.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

can't we trade bradley instead  :-[

I'm with you on that.

This may as well have its own thread.

The Boston Celtics, after years of flirting with potential Rajon Rondo deals, are in substantive discussions on a trade that would send Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Celtics and Mavericks have been discussing a swap that would furnish Boston with multiple draft picks -- including at least one future first-rounder -- as well as blossoming Mavericks center Brandan Wright and other players needed to make the salary-cap math work.

Sources say the Celtics also have been talking to teams such as the Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks about potential Rondo deals?, but that the most advanced discussions so far have been with Dallas.

How many folks just got a little sick to their stomach?  A bench player (one who I like, but still a bench player), a late #1, and salary fodder?

Terrible.

I will say if, IF, we have to lose Rondo to somewhere I would love to see him play in Dallas. That line up would be amazing. Rondo, Ellis, Parson, Dirk, Chandler. Wow.

However. Wright, a late first, and salary? No thanks. I love Wright as a 15-20 minute per game guy. He is probably the best in that role you can find. However, I have a feeling if we traded for him we would try to give him more minutes here and his production would go way down and he wouldn't be as effective or efficient. Not worth it if that's the only piece coming back.

No one ever said Bradley can't and won't be traded.  He's certainly not a foundational piece by any stretch of the imagination.

I like this. Rondo for Wright and some weak 1st rounders is sad. Wright is expiring, only really played backup at or less than 20mpg, and we have Zeller. If we want a legit big we need to move pieces for Towns or Okafor or a Cousins/Drummond player. Also, besides Wright and Parsons I'm all set with anyone else the Mavs would offer.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

And Im not very high with all these picks..i want proven players. Building thru the draft may hurt u than help, just look at Philadelphia.

How many of the actual players playing for the 76ers are actual draft picks?

Did a quick look.  4 2nd round picks.  5 guys not drafted at all.

Top pick out with injury.  Other 1st round pick overseas.

A couple of older veterans just taking up cap space.

The 76ers may be planning to build through the draft, but they are loaded with crap.

The only positive thing I see from the rumor is that the Celtics will not take back crap contracts.

But the rumor deal is clearly coming from the other side trying to drive prices down.

This is a good idea.

I also think Parsons would be a great fit on this team.

Yeah the Sixers method is go full on tank for two seasons, get high draft picks, and see where you are at.  I actually expect the Sixers to start making positive moves next summer as by then they will have MCW, Noel, Embiid, Saric, and whomever they draft this summer.  That should give them a nice little foundation to either build around or trade (if for example they draft Okafor or Towns, I would expect them to move Noel for another young player maybe even that draft and get a wing like say Justise Winslow).  That would be a pretty nice start MWC, Winslow, Saric, Embiid, Okafor.  Tons of cap space you use to bring in a free agent wing (some possibilities - Goran Dragic, Jimmy Butler, Luol Deng) and a younger veteran PF like Paul Millsap or Greg Monroe (they could also go older and get a David West type player).  They might have to overpay a bit for the free agents, but they have the cap room and won't have to start re-signing the young guys for a couple more years so there won't be a ton of overlap there.

So they get Butler away from the Bulls and sign Monroe, draft Towns, and trade Noel for Winslow.  I know that is a lot of what ifs but that is a darn good team (or at least could be).  MCW, Butler, Winslow, Monroe, and Embiid with Towns and Saric coming off the bench.  That is what full on tanking could lead to.  Or they could totally bomb out and just be terrible for a very long time.  It is a risk reward, but I'd rather be Philly than be a mid level lottery team like Boston the last two years because the reward is just so much better and if you are bad you might as well be very bad (you know what Magic said about the Lakers recently).
