I think the fouling and defensive issues are getting to him. He is not playing with any confidence. Which is odd because when he seems to click he is a great player who really is efficient and a hard cover because of his very unique play style and IQ.
I am curious what anyone thinks may get him back on track?
I sadly think he should be playing the 4. However Sully is too good there. I think playing the 5 really causes him issues.

He is such a confidence player ...

I can't remember the last time I have seen a player play as many minutes as KO does and be so up and down dependent on how well or badly game is going for him.

True character of a player is often found when he is playing badly ... and KO's response to bad games is absolutely terrible.

Here's what is wrong with him.

Average shot attempts per game.

Rajon Rondo - 9.3
KO - 8.8

Now, some of that may be due to his minutes being limited by foul trouble but this offense is not getting him enough touches.  Avery creates virtually no offense for himself and he is averaging 13 shots a game.

Avery Bradley taking more shots than KO is not the main problem with this team, but it's a big part of it.

I hate the way they are using him.  >:(

He has to set picks for other guys that get the shots when he is better then the shooters.  ::)

He is trying to hard to play the system and needs to take shots, stop passing it to the other chuckers on the team, shoot the [dang] ball. Being WAY to unselfish on a bad team.

KO is playing out of position.
Turner is playing out of position.
Green plays out of position at PF.
Bass and Sullinger are playing out of position at center.
It's like Doc Rivers came back and is still coaching the Celtics.

I think Doc did it out of necessity. Stevens does it because he thinks every player can play every position.

which on this team he may be right. pressey at center would have the same result as playing KO there.

7 rebounds in the 1st quarter alone. Stay patient, keep the development going. His unique skill set at 7 ft does not grow on trees in this league.

Green finally answered the bell on taking more shots. It's time for Rondo and KO to do the same.

He passes up a shocking number of open shots at times.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
He is a really good passer, which causes him to look for the pass instead of his own shot. What he needs to realize is other players are less likely to get open shots.

So I missed the last game and am waiting until the black out is lifted off league pass to watch it, but the advanced statistics indicate he has been playing better defense lately. On the season his defensive rating is 108 (good for third on the team), but his defensive rating has been 94 in two of the last three games. I think if he stops picking up ticky tack fouls and is able to stop opposing teams on offense, he will be less reticent to shoot.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

This x1000000. If we just signed or traded for a legit Center none of this would be a problem. I honestly think it hurts players development playing out of position. Like come on Ainge if you had gotten Asik none of this would be happening.

If KO ever amounts to anything, he'll one day look back on the hundreds of open shots he's passed up, and wonder what the heck was he thinkin!  Defenses just don't give those to good players/shooters!  Right now defenses treat him like Rondo, not because he can't shoot, but because they know he WON'T shoot!

KO is 7 foot and 238.  I don't know why he can't be a center.  He'll probably never be a great shot blocker but is that the only quality that defines the position?
