Funny how we're desperate for a guy who can block/alter shots, and we could have had one for just $2.5 mil. Zeller is clearly not the answer to our defense.

Defense wasn't the problem tonight. Our shooting was. AB and Sully needed to hit more if they are gonna take 75 shots.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

If it comes down to Stiemsa being our anchor on defense, I think we're in trouble ....

Yeah, he hustled and worked hard, but he isn't moving the needle much on our team.

Bringing in a Stiemsma or Withey to solve shot-blocking situation is ... solving 1 problem at the cost of creating 10 new problems. Highly flawed third string quality specialist shot-blocking centers are not an answer to Boston's situation.

Boston needs a a quality basketball player capable of being a starting caliber center.

Edit: It is like Bryan Colangelo (Raptors) bringing in Reggie Evans to solve their rebounding problems. Yes, Reggie rebounded the ball well but he sucked defensively and he was abysmal offensively so the team got worse. Solve one problem, create several new problems. A specialty of Mr Colangelo while in Toronto. He did the same thing with Jason Kapono. Raptors need 3 point shooting. Problem solved, hire best 3 point shooter in league. Nevermind that he can't defend a chair or rebound the [dang] ball. Irrelevant. He can shoot 3s and that is what the team needs. Solved problem, created several new problems. Team got worse.

Actually he is, but only just barely.  He definitely would not have cost us $2.5mil, I think he's on a minimum contract.

Looks like Stiemsma has 0 blocks in 40 minutes this year.  I would hold off before renaming him "the answer."
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Stiemsma was a pretty good shot blocker but certainly no defensive anchor.  Not strong enough to bang with the larger centers in the NBA.  Poor pick and roll defender.

We couldn't have kept him anyway.  He left for Minnesota to be closer to his family (and also got more money than we offered, if I recall correctly).

I don't think we were able to match what Minny was offering. So, moot point.
Celtics fan for life.

GS is a decent backup rim protector.  But he would not be the answer on this team as well.
