Ainge doesn't seem to understand that size and interior defense is important.

Ainge also brought us a championship, 2 ECF appearances, and cashed in on KG/Pierce for a multitude of picks... He has also stressed bringing in a Center through '15 FA, or through trades/drafts.. So just stop... Seems like a few users love to hate on Ainge, and Rondo despite what they have done for us as fans...

Sure. He has no concept of that need. Or, he realizes this team wasn't winning the title this year with a big, so why overpay or sacrifice for a fill in one now (which is all that would be available) if it hamstrings you for the future when you hopefully will be competing for one?
This isn't a rudderless ship. It is one that is looking to sail as well as possible in the future. Why give up assets short term for that which doesn't help you long term?
Oof.

I never understood it either. I heard Marc was a great passer, but the question was if he could ever defend NBA talent. A lot of GM's didn't think so either.

Because Gasol was fat and not supposed to be very good.  He was passed on 46 times before he was drafted, so just about every team screwed up the same as Ainge did.

And there's a strong likelihood he would have slipped even further had he not already had a brother who was playing for the team at the time.

Anyway, talent is, and should be, more of a priority than size.

I love Ainge, but we are small at every position except SF.

And yet I'm still fine with Marcus Smart over Vonleh, J Randle, and Saric. Although I wish we coulda maybe traded 17 and a 2nd for 16 and get J Nurkic.

I for one wouldn't trade DA for any other GM in the league. He brought us KG and RA which resulted in a championship and an injury away from another. We would be no good with KG and PP still in the line-up as our main guys so he blew it up and picked up a massive haul.
We're headed in the right direction, have young talent, multiple picks to come and in the meantime, whilst we're not making the playoffs this season, we at least have an exciting team to watch.

It's been 6 years ...surely DA can BUY a center or TANK right to get one...... Without a couple big serious paint men Centers life is ruff......and not likey to change

Our star money for a center is sitting on the bench ...... Wallace .....his salary is eating up the money needed to fix the team......just sitting there while the Celtics die.

Wallace money is a noose hung around the Celtics neck

We won't go any where till his gross contract is gone .

DA can't be CHEAP when it comes to a center ......guards are a dime a dozen.  It might take most of the assets he has saved to get a REAL center or franchise player.

I agree

We are in SERIoUS trouble in that regard.   While Philly tanks away grabbing every big center in the draft every year .
