I think Danny could have gotten Omer Asik for practically nothing.

He offered Bass, Lee and a 1st and Rockets ownership rejected that offer.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Was a heavily protected pick if I recall.

I think Zeller and Sully give us our potential best big lineup defensively.   It has potential to be shoddy in some areas as well but it is the best option we have defensively.  Against small teams we may not need it but against the Grizz we will.

i'm all for starting sully & zeller. KO is not a center & certainly isn't a starting center. the only way we can even justify playing him at all is if we give him the ball 20-30 times a game and hope he scores at least 20 to make up for the 20 he'll give up. i'd really like to see the ball more in Kelly's hands than Bradley's.

Agree regarding starting Zeller and Sullinger together. After watching the first 10 games, I'd like to see  the following rotations:

Zeller / Faverani (once healthy)
Sullinger / Olynyk
Green / Bass
Bradley / Thornton
Rondo / Smart

I'd actually like to see Young getting two guard minutes but don't think it will happen just yet until we thin out the backcourt.

I'd also like to see how that starting unit worked subbing out Bradley with Smart and/or Young.

Once Young gets it I think a Zeller, Sullinger, Green, Young & Rondo lineup could be very good.

Defensively I'd like to see how a Zeller, Sullinger, Green, Smart and Rondo lineup would do - that could be outstanding and I love the idea of the two alpha dog personalities of Smart and Rondo feeding off each other in the back court.

And importantly put Houston on the hook for salary beyond that season.  Part of why they wanted to move Asik+Lin was to clear space to try and sign a 3rd star.

Eh, it's not like we're trying to win games this year anyway.

Huh?  Of course we are trying to win games.

And the one of the best ways to do that is by starting Zeller? Consider me a skeptic.

In just 10 games as a Celtic Zeller's FG% has gone up from 48% to 83%.  At this rate by the All-Star Break he should regularly be making baskets in games that haven't happened yet.

I'm starting to think this way too.  Bradley can get in a rhythm, but it sets a 'jump shot mentality' that I don't like.  Smart's natural position is 2 anyways.

Sure, if you consider a potential high lottery pick nothing. Because that's what New Orleans gave Houston: a 2015 1st rounder that is protected for the first three picks, and picks 20-30.

With all the picks he has now......makes you wonder if he regrets not coughing up a pick  :-*

For a 1 year rental? I don't think he has much to regret on that regard.
