One of the well known 3 point specialists in the league, Korver is taking 5.7 attempts, and shooting a blistering 56.1 percent.
Through NBA history only certain players have reached the required criteria of 3pt makes and shots. Despite the SSS, its still relatively impressive, don't ya think?
•Tim Legler in 1995-96: 52.2 percent on 3.2 attempts per game
•Jason Kapono in 2006-07: 51.4 percent on 3.1 attempts per game
•Steve Kerr in 1995-96: 51.5 percent on 2.9 attempts per game
•Detlef Schrempf in 1994-95: 52.4 percent on 2.1 attempts per game
•Steve Kerr in 1994-95: 52.4 percent on 2.1 attempts per game
•Kyle Korver in 2009-10: 53.6 percent on 2.1 attempts per game
•Steve Kerr in 1989-90: 50.7 percent on 1.8 attempts per game
•Jon Sundvold in 1988-89: 52.2 percent on 1.4 attempts per game.
Even though the league changed the 3 pt arc, Korver is taking more than 2 attempts, and even though the numbers are expected to taper down. Korver is still expected to average at least around 40% based on his similar numbers in previous years.
I posted up a thread a few months ago, about how Korver was one of the most heavily guarded players. But somehow Korver instinctually knows how to use the screens correctly, and runs enough to give his defender his money's worth, and be able to free himself for the 3. He leads the league if I remember correctly for the most made and on mark moving 3's.
Korver reminds me of the Celtics Ray Allen, a great off ball shooter, who can hit any 3 from any spot, and is excellent at freeing himself up. It doesn't help the fact Korver has attempted 3606 3pt attempts per basketball reference, and made an astounding 42% of them.
