Missed two free throws again with 1 minute remaining tonight. Rondo is truly anti-clutch this season.
Has Rondo ever been clutch?  He's a great distributor, but he's had a history of disappearing late in games... it use to be because he couldnt' hit free throw and would stop trying to create since "hack-a-rondo" was a viable NBA strategy.

Now there is a stat that has no context.  It is purely on the individual.  Rondo is missing free throws and you cannot blame his knee, his hand, his teammates, the refs, etc.  Rondo's value is not increasing based on his play and the play of the team when he is on the court, making it harder to trade him.

As far as assists as a stat, like most other stats, it can be very misleading.  How big does the sample size have to be though for wins-losses or on court/off court scoring, or whatever, before you can conclude that Rondo getting 12 assists is not helping the team win as much as it seems it should?

The whole team is bad in the 4th quarter only scoring 11 points. What was up with sully missing both free throws towards the end and shooting 9/19… not great.

Your serious right? We already lost the game by that point

This team can't close for the love of god.

I think a lot of it has to do with the personnel they have.  They need a Pierce type in the worst way.

I've been for keeping and building around Rondo. Now I'm not so sure.

Noah should teach Rondo how to shoot that ugly, thumb pushing chest pass looking set shot and free-throw shot.

At this point in his career, not being able to hit foul shots, being paid the money that he is now and will want, I'm not sure he's worth keeping.

I understand it's only two foul shots in one game, but he couldn't make ONE of them?

It's not the players.  I mean, better players would be nice but if this were about talent, this team wouldn't have so many double-digit leads to blow.  This is looking more and more like a coaching issue where Stevens has them playing a style of ball that simply doesn't work on the NBA level.

Welcome to the dark side.

I am a proponent of the 20-game theory, but in the instance of Rondo, we don't need 20 games to conclude that he is a complementary player, the insignificance of 10-10-10 triple doubles aside.

Only fools pay max money for complementary, badly flawed players, particularly the worst foul shooter in the game.

Going to be fun to see how his agent and fan club rationalize away his continued hiccups in the clutch, as they rationalize away everything else.

I think coaching is a part of it too but having a Pierce-type would go a long way to solving some of these 4 quarter collapses.  Having someone who knows what to do when the game slows down and can take control rather than the current situation where everyone seems to be out there running around with their hands cut off and making poor decisions.

I agree.  NO max for RR.  That being said, how much should his deal start at???

I say 12-13 million in the first year.

Thoughts??

If Ainge doesn't trade Rondo before the deadline, he is a fool.
