That's good value. I imagine he'll be bashed a little less now that he's not making $19mil per.

Very fair value, especially with the projected increase in the salary cap.

I know that the thought on this board was that Rondo would never consider re-signing with Sac if traded there, but if Rudy G is going to be there 3 more years on a reasonable contract I wonder if Sac would still try and make a run at Rajon?  With the salary cap increasing, that 13 mil deal seems a lot more cap friendly with brining in another highly paid player.

I don't want the Cs to trade RR but this might make Sac think they have a better chance now.

I thought the same exact thing. I don't think there is anyway Rondo wouldn't re-sign there with Cousins and Gay locked up. That said, Collison has been playing really well for them. Not sure if the urgency is there like it was ast year when Thomas was operating as a shoot first PG.

$13m per for Gay, yeah, I would say that is a very fair deal for Sacramento.  And being that the deal is only for 3 years is even better.  Rudy must really be happy in Sacto to have taken such a huge pay cut without ever hitting the open market.

Underpaid. Should have gone to FA. Should fire the agent.

Underpaid, IDK, but I guess with guys like Parsons and Hayward getting $15m+ the market says he is.

But I do agree, not at least finding out what he could have gotten on the open market was a strange choice.  Maybe he is just really comfortable in his role with the Kings and didn't want to rock the boat.

I figure that Gay probably appreciates the fact that he's effectively resurrected his career in Sacramento after being unceremoniously dumped twice in a single year by Memphis and Toronto.  Factor in that the Kings seem to be trending in the right direction with their performance this season so far and he probably appreciates the stability of an improving Kings team over trying to find the right fit and the right money on the open market.

Yeah, it's kinda odd that he wouldn't test the market, Sacramento is hungry for a winner and probably would've outbid or matched any other offers.  Seems like he could've gotten at least $8-10 million more for a 3 year deal.

I'm assuming that since the agent makes more the bigger the contract that Gay himself was the driving force behind signing, though

Agreed Kings have a good shot at now being a place Rondo would resign.

I think Rudy signed the contract, not his agent.

RealGM reports that the third year is a player option.

So, Gay can test the market again in a couple years after the new financial landscape has been established.

That makes more sense, since he'd have to sign a normal extension before the cap jumped.
