Gasol fits the current team better but you sign the 26 year old Love over the 30 year old all day.  You find another 5 man out there with some picks and Sullinger and/or Olynyk.

Pay what it takes to get Marc and draft another young center to go behind him and Zeller.

With our current roster, I'd love to have Marc Gasol.

This is really a no brainer...

Gasol is a 7 footer who can impact the game just as much on the defensive end as he can on the offensive end.

He's one of those things that is rare these days...an old school center with an all-round game.  He can defend the paint, he can score in the paint, he has a decent jump shot, he's an excellent passer, a good rebounder, and he's a proven leader.

Kevin Love on the other hand is major defensive liability who can only excel on a team that is filled with enough defensive talent to cover up his flaws.  This is a big reason why Cleveland are struggling right now - their defence (with Kyrie and Love) is atrocious...and scoring 25 points every game means nothing if you're also giving up 25 points.

Mark Gasol has led a number of teams deep in the playoffs.  Love hasn't even led a team TO the playoffs.

It's not even debatable, you'd be crazy to choose Love.

Plus to make this even more one sided, PF is currently our most stacked position (Sully, Olynyk, Bass).  It's arguably our strongest position (along with PG).  Center on the other hand is undeniably our weakest position, and the one most in need of improvement.

There is no doubt at all that we would be a far better team with a Sully/Gasol or Olynyk/Gasol frontcourt then we would with a Love/Olynyk or Love/Zeller frontcourt.

Boston is actually 3rd in the NBA in scoring (PPG) at the moment.  We aren't having trouble putting the ball in the basket.  What we're having trouble with is stopping the other team from putting the ball in the basket.  We need a player who can impact the game defensively.  In fact when you consider that we already have Smart, Bradley, Rondo, Green and Wallace...we are basically one defensive center away from being an elite defensive team.

Tank, trade rondo and green to the lakers for their top 5 pick and take Nash and whatever garbage contracts they have.

Draft towns and another center

And offer the max and ownership of the Celtics to Gasol

Smart
Bradley
Towns
Sully
Gasol

Lakers won't have a first round draft pick this year if we give them Green and Rondo.  They lose their pick if it's out of the top 5 and Rondo and Green would improve them enough to make that happen.

I know that, I'm saying at the draft.

Got to be Gasol on a necessity basis alone. We already have a good 3 point shooting PF in Olynyk (not of Love's ability yet admittedly) being played out of position. I really like the big man rotation of Sullinger/Olynyk at PF and Gasol/Zeller at the five. Gives us a bit of everything.

Love. Aside from the fact that he's already a better player, he's about four years younger.
My exact thoughts.  Love is probably a top 5 player, Gasol is maybe top 20.
Love is no way a top 5 player  ::)
Top 5 PF maybe, just like Gasol is a top 5 centre.

Loves 3pt shooting is his only plus over Gasol

What about rebounding?

Career rebounds per 36 minutes/rebounding percentage

Player A: 13.4/20.8%
Player B: 8.4/13.8%
Playcer C:7.4/12.2%

Player A is Kevin Love, Player B is Marc Gasol, and Player C is Brandon Bass.

Marc Gasol returned from a sprained MCL in his left knee on Jan. 14th, since then Grizzlies have best record in NBA at 38-13

I just thought all of the people that hate on Rondo whenever he's out would love Gasol because of this.

He's maybe a top 5 PF? Love is at least a top 10 player, if not top 5-7. The only PFs I think you could argue over him at this point are Griffin and Davis.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.
