Lin and Nash's expiring $25 million contracts plus Young (5 million) and Ed Davis (@1 million) for Rondo (@13 million), GWall (@10 million), and Thornton (@8.7 million), and an LA first rounder.

I love Ed Davis as a rotation big.  Young can score.  We get a first.  We get rid of Gerald's albatross contract.

Thoughts?

I don't think this can be done until December 15th.

I hate this idea.

The Celtics do not get anything.  Cap space is nice, but who can the Celtics add without a player like Rondo that would be attractive to other stars?

Wallace is a place holder at this point.  While it would be nice to get rid of him, it is not worth it to give up any potential assets at this point to move him.  It is the move the team makes if there is a likely target they can acquire and they need that space.  Not because someone will be a free agent after this season where the Celtics have had no contact and have no clue whether or not that free agent would be interested.

What player talent do the Celtics actually get?  A bunch of low end role players?

This is a huge step back trade for a team that needs to go forward.

"Let's trade Bass, Green, 2nd round pick for Durant, Howard, CP3, Duncan and Kyle".

I'll post this everytime. Seriously, let's STOP the trade ideas. Ban them. Until the end of the season. OK? Thanks.
It's nice seeing him get exposed as overrated after having argued with fellow fans for years that he was overrated.. but I don't hate him. I'm looking forward to seeing him [...] bounce around to a couple more teams... eventually come back to Boston[...] and helps us as a role player until he runs himself out of the league.

Here is what makes sense to me. If LA is willing to pay a star price for a role player then make the deal.

LA gets Rajon Rondo

Boston gets Steve Nash/Julius Randle

Simple deal. No unloading Wallace or getting Lin or anything. Nash just facilitates the deal due to salary. Boston waives him after the trade.

Do you think the Lakers would give up a top 5 pick for rondo , if so I do it.

So who do the Celtics plan on moving one of the three young PFs to?

No, the Celtics need more then an expiring contract and an injured rookie for a star level player.

Do you still think the Lakers will still be in position to get the top 5 pick if they make this trade?

It's funny to me because I was thinking about starting a thread with this exact trade after I read about the Laker interest in Rondo but you thought of it first. I guess the real questions here are whether Ainge thinks Rondo will sign in Boston and does he want to sign him? The answers to these questions determine whether this proposal makes sense. I'm not worried about the redundancy at the power forward position with Randle and Sullinger because we're still in the talent/asset accumulation part of our rebuild. This deal also helps us tank more effectively, if that's what we are doing.
