Wasn't there an agent promise or something with Giddens or am I thinking of someone else?

Thought Danny would have learned his lesson from that after the Orien debacle.

I realize every GM can be second guessed on a lot of draft picks. It's just I remember reading some very intriguing scouting reports on DAJ's tremendous athleticism pre-draft, and was hoping we would take a shot on him with our late first round pick.  I'm sure others on this board had a similar feeling.  The fact that (I) it was a late first round pick, so you have to take a gamble, and (II) Giddens was projected to go mid 2nd round, so Danny could have gotten him anyone with an easy trade if he liked him that much, makes the decision perplexing. The fact that DAJ has turned into a very good inside the paint 5 (how many alley oops could you see Rondo giving him per game?  5?), and that Giddens was such a clueless bust, makes the decision heartbreaking.
