It just seems like we need a big guy for KO and Zeller to work against, and I don't think we have a big man coach any more.  Perk is expiring and could fill that veteran, non-playing role for us, and a 2- or 3-fer would clear up our roster situation.

Agree?

What do you think?

I would do that trade but not to have Perk as a non playing role. I would expect him to play 15-20mpg.

Why do the Thunder do this?

Why do the Thunder do this?

I'm wondering why the Celtics do this at all.

my thinking exactly.

Loved Perk when he was here but he brings nothing to the table now.  why give up 3 guys that can actually play for someone who's got nothing left to give?  Perk being an expiring means nothing since that's exactly what we're giving up.

same, Perk is serviceable but not worth us trading 3 guys over. I think Bass can net us someone better than Perk too

agreed, especially if Bass continues to work on his 3-pt shooting

I'd rather have Vitor than Perkins.  If I really wanted Perk, I'd just wait a year and sign him for the minimum.

Perk belongs on a contender. We are not one.

Not commenting on the trade either way, but the Celtics have 21 guys on their roster.  They have to cut at least 6 of them, getting nothing back, and you guys are worried about 3-for-1's?  Heck, they should be looking at 7-for-1 trades they could pull off right now  :)

We just have too many players and no veteran big centers, with two young players needing to learn the position and the physically questionable and defensively unworthy Vitor.

KO and Zeller will be better players for having Perk beat them up/work on their conditioning this year, while developing that interior defense to complement the nice interior and big-man passing.

Also makes smiley for Rondo, next year's FA.

Doesn't screw up our rotation or future.

Solids to Bass by trading him to a contender where he will play more, and a solid to Perk, whose career is likely...well, let's not think about that.

And saves a couple-hundred thou this year, a tiny chip further below the tax.

And, well, I guess "intangibles" and "Celtic Pride" and assorted things having to do with team culture and identity are things that I value quite highly, just as much in a transition/developing year as in a contending year.  Perk, like Waltah or Scal, could have a long-term relationship with the club.

21 guys on their roster is quite an exaggeration. The reality is we have 16, with Bynum looking to be waived. The rest are practice bodies or players that will be waived to keep their rights for D-League. And even if roster spots open up they wouldn't make the team anyways (I'm pretty sure they've already been waived as it is).
