The Boston Celtics have claimed forward Jarell Eddie -- Hawks' recent release -- off NBA free agency waivers, league source tells RealGM.

Well, this is odd. Right?

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's funny this is happening during the Shamrock Gala.

I can picture everyone just having a good time and Ainge is claiming dudes off waivers in a corner somewhere. ;D

From what i've read so far, and seen limited highlights Eddie looks like another Ben Mclemore type player(but not as good).   His 3 pt shooting is almost as good as his overall FG percentage.  Good rebounder, defender and a explosive. However has no handles, no game outside of the 3 pt shot.

Has strength at all the areas that fit into BS system

Going to be sent to the dleague and taking over CJ/CB place

explosiveness

3 pt shooting (has one of those effortless shooting strokes, all wrist, like Chauncy Billups)

Wow.  Maybe the Green, Olynyk, Bass, and Celtics 2015 first rounder for Marc Gasol trade went through.

Or maybe he's just unguaranteed and heading to Maine.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Beautiful 3 point stroke.
Has size at 6'7" and decent athleticism with a nice quick release.

Should fit right in to Stevens 'live and die by the three' system.
He's somewhat of a James Young clone only 3 years older.

He's either going to Maine or we've got another trade lined up somewhere.

Nice waiver claim.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

D-League.
That would mean he takes up a roster spot.

isn't there a rule you can have 18 players signed with 3 that can play in the dleague?

Last year, Ben stunk up the court, how is he doing this year?

Eddie was recently released by the Atlanta Hawks, and he drew multiple waiver bids before the Celtics were awarded his rights. Eddie, who has a non-guaranteed contract, could be being signed to be released as part of Boston’s allocated players to Maine in the NBA D-League.

He won't make the Celtics roster.

Some similarities including his stroke to Anthony Morrow when he came out.

Both 22. Not great athletes ( although Eddies seems to have the edge). Eddie 220 vs Morrow 205 with height and wingspan about same. Neither with great handles. Both 3 shooting specialist. Morrow the edge in 2s andFTs.
