Yes Sullinger will have a better year than Love.  He also gets paid a lot less.

No.

If that were the case, then Minnesota would've traded Love to the Celtics this summer for Sullinger, straight up.
Dream on. Minny would never do that because they knew Danny would never agree to such a steal.

Yup, must be why Minny never bothered with our trade offer.

They knew Ainge would come to his senses sooner or later.

Feels nice when all the pieces fall into the right place, doesn't it?

Yes or No?
Sullinger will gave a more positive impact than Kevin Love.
I say yes.
And with this thread CelticsBlog abandons the realm of logic and delves into the realm of insanity.
Coming soon: Phil Pressey> Michael Jordan.

But he is! How many 3s has Jordan made in pre-season?

To return to the original point, there's optimism, blind optimism, and the triumph of hope over experience.

Don't get me wrong, I think Sully will exceed expectation this year, but this x > y business is never wise.

Yup, I agree. Makes the not really having chance at Kevin Love this summer feel a little better. We have Sullinger who might end up better than Love. Yay us!  :-\

I really enjoy the optimism here. Sully had a good game in preseason match against the Nets and we react as if he demolished Dwight Howard.  ::)

i think sully is a 'far' superoir defender already - i think that's important.

Based on what?  The stats all show that Love is, at the very worst, an average defender who neither hurts nor helps his team on that end.

Great thread, be it delusional or otherwise. It's the right time of year to be blindly optimistic. Sully could indeed have a big year this year and turn heads. 14 & 8 is realistic. If he goes for 18 & 10 we may start thinking we were lucky Minny rejected our trade and we keep those 3 draft picks.

1. thanks, someone just made that thread lol

and 2. yes, Sullinger is NOT better than Love. Love is a top 20 player, arguably top 15 depending on your argument but that's for another thread. Let me know when Sullinger gets a 30-30

sully has 31-16 and a 25-21... hes getting there

I think in terms of Love vs Sully/rest of potential trade pieces, we may have gotten the better end of the deal. It is a close one as it will be years ( if ever ) that we can evaluate who those picks will potentially be as players. Let's say to start that it is Sully and Smart and Young off the current team.

I don't feel that Love would have put us into contention to win it all. Based on what happened in Minny he would have just given us enough to be playoff bound. We would need the A player still.

Sully has a very good chance to be a second star on this team and give us close to what Love does where it counts in generating wins/loses. Smart and Young may be very key players in the next couple years. We also still have the goods to get a deal done for an elite talent.

Sully > Love by a nose.

I agree with what you say about the deal, and I am one the few ppl here who think Ainge amassed those draft picks to use them rather than trade them.
But the above does not mean that Sully is a better player than Love.
Anyway guys, going to sleep, this is a far better option than fantasizing that Sully is better than a proven All Star player.

Thread on Pressey is locked. Apparently there are limits to the amounts of trolling the moderators can cope with. Can't blame them.

Ah, so we just haven't reached the limit yet.  Sounds like we need to do some testing to figure out just how much troll is too much.  Where's the line?  Let's all post Sullinger > Russell and see what happens.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
